Default Gravity Spoon Nose Set Up Help

I got a Gravity Spoon Nose 45 deck only right now. I've been researching and was gonna get Randall 150mm then I heard read somewhere that the tracker darts 149mm will slide better. So now I'm all confused which trucks to get. Paris? Tracker? Randall? Or another brand?

My height is 5 foot 7 inches weighing at about 160-165lbs. I got stoked off of Brad Edwards skating in this video. I think hes riding Randalls but I'm open to other suggestions....I just want to make sure I buy the right truck for me the first time. So for the style I would like to ride on this board would be pretty much what Brad is doing in the video. Cruise, carve, dancing, 180 slides, and would like to practice some slides like coleman and pendys.

Also wheel size, riser, and bushing recommendations would be sweet. Thanks a lot guys.

Brad's riding Trackers in that video, and honestly, a conventional truck like Trackers or Indys are gonna be best for it, that's what it was designed to be set up with (that's what the wheel wells will line up with properly)

149mm trucks with no bigger than 66mm wheels (recommend the Burners) and you'll be set up to do anything you're capable of

Thanks Will. I already have Indys 169mm on my widerglider, you recommend me trying the 149mm trackers? Also which bushings should I get with the trackers according to my weight and height.

If you're used to Indys i'd just go with Indy 149s (i prefer Indy over Tracker myself). If you're using sideset or offset wheels, 169s are gonna be too wide

in Indys, i'd go with medium bones bushings in the back and softs in the front

Whoa-ho-ho-hold up now. Misinformation here. Indy "169" is actually referring to something else other than the hanger width. Indy 169 hangers are actually roughly 150mm, just as the Indy 215 hangers are roughly 184mm. Confusing, especially since most retailers tack "mm" onto the end without a second thought.

    It's the truth.
Go with Indy 169s. Also I'll back up that Bones Hardcore bushings are probably the best to be putting into any regular set of Indies. I'd rather go Med (yellow) all around though. I've crunched up a set of them, and I weigh ~155lbs. ####### awesome turn character.

i know what the Indy widths are, i've been riding them for 2 decades

with sideset wheels like the Burner, 169s are going to be too wide

    Oh, well sorry then.

I assumed you didn't because just a couple posts ago you had a different opinion...

So I'm still confused, are you saying the 150mm trucks with sidesets like Burners are going to be too wide, or will they set-up the board to do anything he's capable of?

Hold on there, if you are to correct someones "misinformation" it's a good idea to be right, which you are not.

    Indy 169 are roughly 160mm wide(my set is 159m), 149's are roughly 150mm.

You'll get bite with 66mms and Trackers/Indys unless you're using huge risers. I'd go closer to 60mm and use a 1/4 shock or something to avoid it completely.

3/8" isn't huge, and you'll have to really crank a turn to get it to bite

the stock setup is what Brad is mostly riding in that video.... Dart 149 - 65mm wheels - 3/8" riser..

    Oh well, my bad..
Can't say I've ridden that exact board, but I've ridden several sort of similar Gravity-decks.
I must be doing something very wrong.. For example, I get bite with Indy 149s and 60mm Bertz on 1/2" risers on my BE40. In standup-slides and deep carves.
    Help appreciated.

Cool thanks for everybody's help. Ok on my current set of 169mm Indys I have the bones medium bushings on them. Man I have a hard time turning with them even with the trucks pretty loose, but it's not that bad at higher speeds. So I'm going to pick up a set of softs and mess around with that. Is it due to the fact that my first two long boards were Original boards? Because I noticed people in my weight range love the bones mediums but they seem very hard to me.

One more question since I'm going to pick up another pair of Indys for my Spoon board, do you guys recommend me using core baseplates? Will that give me wheel bite or be too carvy?

I love the info on the actual truck sizes there guys, I learned something new today

hmmmm... what kind of bushings are you using?

Might wanna try a medium-hardish barrel bushing on the bottom with a soft bushing on top to still get a good lean, but not too much. Or maybe try wedging the front and stiffening up the back a little.

seems like a lot of people really like them, but i've always been more than happy with the standard Indy baseplate. I'd say if you're not setting up a board with cut-outs that you want to turn crazy amounts, just stay with the regular baseplate.

I've been using both soft, medium and hard bushings. Hard ones don't seem to help. They just make the trucks less responsive, but the trucks lean almost as much. So no luck with that.
It seems to me that Randal-style trucks stop leaning when you get to a certain point while Indy-style trucks don't; they just keep on leaning until bite.

I'm light as a feather too, so that can't be the problem..

the same way i'd set it up for anything, Indy 149s with 66mm wheels at most

180mm trucks are just too wide. And to keep 75mm wheels from biting, it'd have to be so tall pushing would just plain suck.
