i cant decided on which ones are better, a friend told me that randal are the best but i just want alittle more imput on which ones. im strictly going to use these for crusing, also i'll be riding these on a bustin complex.
Same issue here, I have a Dseed coming and have been using 180mm RII's for years and like them, but I wanted to try the Bear Grizzly 184mm's now. I can order them but I'm confused about the part where it says that it has a 10mm axle in comparison to an 8mm axle, which is what the RII's have.
Does this mean new bearings? Can I get those anywhere? Do they fit my wheels? Are all of these stupid questions?
Hope someone reads this. Peace

I like the feeling of the old bears better than the new ones. They new pivot cups are too restrictive. Both are great trucks. You can't go wrong with either. Personally, I like the bears more.
The bears have a 10mm axle option... cool but not necessary. Plus you can't buy bearings everywhere for them.
Grizzlies wil be better for downhill oriented riding and randalls will be better for cruising style riding. Get venoms they will make your ride godly.

Heres a short off-the-top-of-my-head list of non precision trucks.
Paris- Excellent carving not the best for downhill but will work.
Randalls- Great all around trucks if your not sure what discipline you like.
Grizzlies- Good solid downhill moderate carving trucks, very sturdy.
Gullwings-Nice trucks in general, could use longer kingpin for more turning depth but you won't disappointed if you get them.
Indies- Good all around carving, non flipable hanger so not as tunable but good trucks that will last a lifetime.
Trackers- decent trucks work well over all, could be improved.

I think 8mm comes only in 181mm and not in 184mm, so i'd go for the 8mm ones. This is what I found on Landy's site.
Bear Grizzly 852's | 181mm | 8mm axle
Standard 8mm axels, heat treated for your pleasure. They turn deeper than the well Timmy got stuck in, and are available in polished silver, or powder coated black.
Bear Grizzly 1052`s | 184mm | 10mm axle
Same geometry as the 852’s but with a larger axel diameter. More Meat at the axel, lets you skate with more confidence. You won’t believe how strong these trucks are.

Bears are weak. they bend super easily, even the 10mm. I hit a pot hole with mine and broke the base plate and smashed my face. not buying another set. I've never had randals but I'm liking the paris ones i just got.

They recently changed the casting. They're good now. Randals used to be crap to but they also changed their casting.

Bullshit.
Pick one. They both ride fairly simlarly to each other and guessing by the question you're asking, you're probably not all that experienced with trucks yet.

Bear/Randal/Paris are all rather similar. Alot of it is preference.

I would suggest to you getting Randal's.
That's basically what I was trying to say. Neither of the mentioned truck is better or worse than another for anything in particular.

You realize i said oriented, it's all preference of feel, now don't tell me that paris' ranadalls and bears all feel the same because they dont. Im not saying grizzlies will destroy randalls on the downhills, im saying that i prefer that feel of the grizzlies on the downhills better, way to jump to accusations especially with very methodical and complex reply of "bullshit!".

if you get the randals clean up the stub that goes into the rubber cup. there is a thread on this somewhere. noticed what they were talking about the other day. ordered new cups and plan on doing a little filing when they get here.

Coming right out of the box I prefer the Randals. I weigh 145lbs and I have a really hard time getting the Bears to come alive. The bushings are super hard and restrictive for a light guy. Although if you want to invest in bushings you can make any truck do anything you want.
Bryant is right, the stock bushings in bears suck but then again i never buy a set of trucks without new bushings to go along with it. Paris' in my opinion have the best stock bushings, then randalls, and bears have bad stock bushings.

so the majority of the list is wrong. all you need to know about trucks is that they work the same. aside from indys, all the trucks above work the along the same principle and have minor differences that cause slightly different performance from the truck.
bears are prone to bending axels and general quality issues, but the newer batches are suppose to be a lot better. people like them so obviously they arent horrible.
paris are great trucks with a great bushing seat. you can use them for anything from cruising to winning races.
randals are the original production truck of this geometry (as far as i know). they are great and there is a reason people speak highly of them and why all popular dh trucks are modeled around their design.
theres a lot of info about all these trucks but the general info is they all work!

I am sorry that you were wrong and got corrected. I apologize that you thought you were right and that you thought you knew more about these trucks than you really did. I am really sorry that the truck companies did not design their trucks to match what you said.
