Re: Indy 199 (?)
cutting fluid is what you should spray on the counter bore as you mill the hanger down it cools and keeps the counter bore clean. However I usually use whatever can of spray oil I have handy 3in1, WD40 etc lately it's been a japanese chain lube that I inadvertently shipped a case of back with my household goods 3 years ago (it was actually illegal to do so and would likely have gotten me in trouble had customs found it in the shipping crates)

keep it oiled and you shouldnt have to worry about dulling it. cast aluminum is soft compared to what most cutting tools are made for.

if you can get your hands on some dye do it, really defines where you scribe your line and makes it easier to see. and yes calipers would be a great idea, they are very handy and precision is important when resizing trucks. .001" isnt a big difference but a possibility of .1" could be a problem.

I wouldnt want my trucks to be .1" off, but Ive had randal hangers that are clearly not the same width when I set them up, Id say almost .25" difference. I dont think it would be devastating, but getting it as accurate as no doubt be best.

And one more thing I just thought about, I'm thinking about leaving the axles the same so I can just use bronze spacers to move it back out. 8) Any objections?
any dye will work, just brush it on the general area and then scribe the line .
and the brass spacers sound great, you better post how they turn out as well as a review.
