Arrow Is there a specific rating for screws?

Hey guys, I'm trying out some different setups, and I need to buy some more screws to fit the board and riser. However, they can't be countersunk. The closest real skateshop is about 45 minutes away, and the nearest zumiez is 20. I called zumiez, and as usual they had no idea what I was talking about.

So can I just go to home depot or lowes and buy the same size screws? I'm sure I could, but I don't know if there's a certain rating or grade I need to get, like with the kingpin.

    thanks!

Yes there are many grades/specs...NAS, MILSPEC etc. But they are beyond the scope of both the skate retail and Home Despot. Look for 10-32 macine screws, but you may have a harder time finding a Truss Head screw there. Mail order is easiest.

You can get 10-32 screws in stainless at those places and many other hardware stores. The stainless is generally stronger than other hardware so I'd go with that. That said, your truck mounting hardware isn't as critical as your kingpin because you have four instead of one for each truck and they aren't subject to the extreme stress that a kingpin is. Before anyone flames me for saying that notice that I still recommend using dependable hardware. I actually err on the side of caution myself by using stainless.
If you can't hit bottom, wear the sides out.

I get the button head machine screws that take a hex key.

...but if you want to get crazy like me get your hands on countersunk torx drive NAS Titanium machine screws and alloy jet (or K) nuts.

Thanks, but I don't want my mounting hardware to be the most expensive part of my setup.
