    Default Having two back trucks?

    Hey

I saw a guy in a video, who had 2 back trucks on his longboard and one at the front, i was wondering would this encrease speed, stability or grip? With the longboard at high speed. It looked quite cool and i was thinking of doing it
    Deck: Fullbag Elise
Trucks: Blue & Purple Munkae trucks
    Bushings: Yellow & Red elims.
    Wheels: 75mm Lime BigZigs
    Bearings: Bones Swiss Ceramics

    ;) Get some.

its good for grip, the more urethane you have on the ground the grippier it will be.

adversely, it will be slightly slower for the same reasons.

i think the amount of friction from having the extra 2 wheels would be equaled out by the force applied to all 6 wheels.
let say with 4 wheels you have 24 lbs on those wheels so each wheel is supporting 6 lbs but if you add 2 more wheels then each wheel is only supporting 4 lbs. since each wheel has less force applied thats less force on the bearing will means less friction and higher speeds.

just an idea i have no clue if that is right or not but it makes sense in my head, i havent taken physics in 4 years so i dont remember anything from it but i bet through a couple equations you could figure it out.

I'm with Ward on this - more material in contact means more friction. It might be moderated slightly because the urethane isn't deformed into the road surface quite as much but it falls far short of making it equal.
If you can't hit bottom, wear the sides out.

Your right, although I don't think it's worth the modification. A practical reason would be if your skating in the rain all the time. Even then, it looks weird. Chaput used a double truck setup and fairing modification in the front of his deck at the 2008 MHFOS. Not sure why and not sure it helped.

It's more trouble than it's worth. I wouldn't see why anyone would really want to do that. Most vehicles have four wheels. Many and tried to break the trend, but ultimately, I still drive a car with 4 wheels.

I'm imaged the only two reasons someone would want to do that is: A) they don't know what they are doing and tried it out for shits and giggles. B) They weigh too much (400lbs) for the board to support their weight, so they had distribute the weight with 2 extra wheels.

Fortunately 51% of the slalom community knew what was good for us, and banned 6-wheelers for sanctioned races.

Wow that is among the weakest arguments I've ever heard.
By your logic, you could say that longboards should have rear wheels that don't steer. Or steering wheels. Or combustion engines... seatbelts... pneumatic tires... room for 6 riders... etc

The advantage it offers is not a larger contact patch.

Larger measurable wheel surface, But the ACTUAL contact patch is dependant on wheel deformation.

It will provide more grip thought, because the shape of the contact patch has changed.

Actually, That might only be the case while holding a turn.

The other advantage could be stability.

The two trucks interact w/ eachother, that is to say they interfere with eachother slightly, so they going to be less responsive to jerky movements.
9 out of 10 instances of speed wobble are caused by alien interference.
