    Default Stims for freeriding?

Ive never owned stim style bushing and thinking about getting some venom elims just to try them, but i have a few questions.
    1. How do they perform for freeriding?
    2. Do they seat well in randal R2s?
    3. I run an 85a barrel roadside and a 90a barrel boardside, what would be the best duros to go with, I was thinking getting the 81a RS and the new 87a BS but the 81a seems so soft to me?
    4. Can you run large cup washers with them, the ones from longboardskater.com?

im not a fan of stims for freeriding unless you need them to avoid wheelbite.

I use orange elims deckside, blue cones roadside (all venoms) for freeride. (in bears, on a drop speed). It's kind of a strange setup for some but it's really divey and I like it a lot.
I don't have any randalls, so I don't know about the bushing seat.
You probably won't want to use the cup washers... they'll probably cut into the bushings. I'd recommend getting some flat washers, or at least flipping the cupped ones upside down.

bottom line: bushings aren't too pricey, just get some elims and find out if you like them, only way to know for sure

deffinatly go soft with stims. a level or two below what you would get for barrels

i always will prefer using a softer stim over a harder barrel.
me likes the progressive lean and rebound a softer stim will provide over a barrel.
stims provide that thick thane feel

    pete..Having a board doesn't make you a longboarder-riding it does.

sorry for the double post ,i would also use flat washers the size of the small part of the stim, like the flat washer you would use for a barrel, the cups tend to cut into the fatter part of the stim .

The problem with the flat washers for me is that they keep moving around on top of the bushing and i have to reseat them. I am still thinking about going with an 81a Roadside and an 85a Boardside, which is one lower than i run with the barrels. But the 81a seems so soft to me, has anyone ridden those before?

I have ridden 85a elim bottom with and 85a barrel top... pretty nice freeriding combo. But personally I prefer barrels with a cup washer on the bottom

I had yellow bottom orange top on bears for a bit on a carver, awesome! Nealry threw me off first time in the carve because of the bounce!

I weigh about 200lbs though so I would suggest you try orange bottom blue top, you need them real soft like.

its kinda all your own opinion but i love the yellow stims on my setup for free styling.. Its carvey enough to sidewalk surf but hard enough so it slides easier and nicer. Again just buy and try it out. You can NEVER have enough bushings
Because we ride hard and fast, slow and curvy. Through the crowds and cars, laughing as the auto-drones are clogged in the grid listening to cackling talk show radio dj's. We ride boards for the experience, the stoke, the idea that freedom is found in our surroundings, our back yards and streets.

im not diggin the way stims feel for standups, colemans, and pendys, like the double barrel feel much more in my paris 180s

all personal preference tho and ive only tried one duro of stims and from what ive read i should have bought a softer duro

one thing this thread proved is that it all does come down to personal preference.

    yes. do this. now.

I ride this setup on my freerider with randals. i got a 50 in front and a 42 in back with flat washer bottom and a flipped small cupped washer (usually used for cones) top.

    I LOVES IT SO MUCH.

super duper lean and a great reboundy feel.

As for paris trucks, the super deep bushing seat makes stims not so great. that said i wanna try an orange or blue stim top in some for DH.

and that people ask way too many questions about gear rather than technique...

well sometimes its helpful for ppl who post videos a lot to comment on gear cause sometimes you can see your own style in another persons style and see what works for them but most useless gear threads can be answered with the answer whatever ya like...

Good thing skateboarding is so cheap that you can buy a handful of bushings for very little and see for yourself.

Be careful with Paris trucks. Stims don't work well in them. I learned this first hand. The contact surfaces don't fill the bushing seats properly so the hanger can wobble around a bit. If you shave off the step on the part that faces the hanger so you just have the wide part hitting the hanger it won't wobble. I was asking about this in another thread but since we are talking Elims here...
