I haven't used AutoCAD in a year or two, but I'm still fairly sure that you're going about it in a more difficult way than you need to. I specifically remember making threads and it wasn't as complicated as you said...
The argument is mostly irrelevant because I doubt that he will end up shelling out that kind of money.

I've been working in cad for 3 years man, I know what I am doing, there is not an easier way that I, my teacher, or anyone else in the class knows of.

Re: Bear Grizzly Engineering Drawings?
Inventor FTW. Had a Drop Wedge deck drawn up in 20 minutes, beefed up for carbon layup in another 15.
Then we saw the price tag and that project got pigeonholed.
Next project, homebrew precision trucks (or at least custom baseplates). Oh right, price tag.

I'm not going into mechanical engineering or anything of that sort as a career so sadly I do not have inventor, too expensive for me to just be screwing around with. I only have standard acad and arch desktop.
EDIT: And 3dsmax but that's not too helpful in this situation. I use that for finishes/rendering.

Re: Bear Grizzly Engineering Drawings?
Yeah, well I guess that was of no use. I know how to use 3d cad, that is what the project is. I was just wondering is anyone knew of some official drawing with correct measurements, so I wouldn't have to guess on some of the curves or angles. But I guess not, and I don't need to pay anyone else to do it for me. I'll just go buy some calipers tomorrow and spend an extra 30min to an hour doing it myself. Which isn't really a problem, I just knew I had this resource that could possibly save me a little time and frustration when I realize that a couple things don't fit together quite right.
And the threads are the hardest part, because I'm using 3D CAD software, not 2D AutoCAD. You have to draw in all the measurements for the threads and cut them out all in one motion (helical sweep).

also how are you planning on making an accurate CAD design of bears without knowing the measurements?

you sound like a cool dude even with all these douches talking up there e-penis's. we should skate sometime.
its too bad you cant find a picture with the dimensions. if u cant get your hands on a grizzlie dont bother buying a set just for a school project. shoot me a PM I might know someone near you with some.

If you're a student you can get any autodesk program free off their website.
For me? Rhino FTW. Vectorworks has tools for mechanical details, like threads though.

Thats what I am using, although it seems a little like a cheaper knock-off of Solid Edge, which I'm pretty sure is a budget version of Solid Works

Thanks, its good to know someone else thought this was kind of ridiculous. And hey, we both live FL, but I don't make it down to S. Florida too much. But I already have the trucks and right now they are in peices on my deck being drawn out and measured.
