Oh and that was directed at the kid hating, not the post i replied to...
Respect to sector 9 they're what got me hooked on skating but there decks aren't incredible.Theyve got nice molds but i feel like if they just used imagination on the shapes they could be alot funner. Ive chopped loads of sector 9's and theyve always been alot funner after.

Re: Stalkers=the best truck ive ever ridden!!
Got news for you all, landyachtz is now available from south shore distribution and eastern skate supply...which are both vendors that zumiez uses and you shouldn't be surprised when you see them there too...but will you say the same things about them as s9

Re: Stalkers=the best truck ive ever ridden!!
i just got a call from our rep last week telling me they have them, but i'm direct. i've also seen them on eastern
just checked eastern they've got them but are almost out of all of them.
i don't see them on south shore, but jason did call me to tell me they had them.
i did see cults on eastern, which i will take advantage of
they also have all the reflex bushings so you may see them at zumiez too

Yep, the stalkers axles rust. But not bad at all, never enough to notice or impact performance.

Re: Stalkers=the best truck ive ever ridden!!
any steel axle is going to rust when ridden in the rain and not properly cared for...

Re: Stalkers=the best truck ive ever ridden!!
can some owner of these trucks explain how the dampening system works yet?
I'd assume the internal dampener is rubber and not urethane, right?
and does the material separate the axle from the hangar so it's floating? (brain smoothie asked this on page 1...)
interesting concept, be interested to hear the results over time and distance

Re: Stalkers=the best truck ive ever ridden!!
I don't know if these photos will help or not. The axle is mounted in some sort of rebounding material. I am not sure how to tell if it is rubber or urathane.

I have not ridden on the trucks yet. I will say I bought them despite the fact a couple of people whose opinion I really respect, had reservations. I bought them to go on a push oriented board that Sean of 42skate is making for me. My morning commute crosses some pretty rough terrain and I leave well before the sun comes up. I am hoping with the Stalkers and Grapy Apes to have a fairly smooth ride.
I realize they are relatively untested, and ultimately it may just be a gimmick that does not stand the test of time, but I figured, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

cool, hope you can beat 'em up good in the coming weeks and let us know!

Re: Stalkers=the best truck ive ever ridden!!
The way I see it sidewinders were supposed to be a gimmick as well, but those ended up being a pretty cool truck. I'd love to have a ride on these but I don't have the 60 bucks to shell out on them.

looks like there's either a bit of "float" built in between urethane/rubber and hangar, or else that's just a bit on the sloppy side. i'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now and assume the gap in the pic is "by design"...
I just want to hear how these RIDE after some long, crappy-asphalt stretches as I don't have $60 to burn at the moment, and plenty other setups to ride.
Also I wonder if just buying the hangars is an option? The baseplates look standard.

Haha, "benefit of the doubt" indeed. I plan to commute for at least 6 months on these before I will say whether they seem ok or not. Probably a year would be better.

I think you'd still be able to get some immediate impressions on whether you're getting significant or at least noticeable shock absorption though, by just plowing over some rough stretches ---first with some standard trucks, then right after with the Stalkers. We have plenty of crappy surfaces here I can think of Would have to control the variables of course, using the same setup, same deck and wheels, basically everything the same except changing out the trucks.
Then over the months you'll get a better idea about wear and durability, depending how often / far you skate.

Re: Stalkers=the best truck ive ever ridden!!
its more of a floating axle design. the guy who made them said that eventually he will be selling different durometer bushings for the axles
"The concrete is our canvas, our wave, our playgound, our catalyst for growth.
When you feel it, flow with it, live in the moment; and shred it like you'll never skate again, everytime.
that kind of run is why i skate, that kind of run is why i live."

I will certainly let you know about the shock absorption quality as soon as possible. I have a set of Paris 180s I can use for a control set. The board they are going on should be done in a couple of weeks.

cool, it would be interesting if the these gullwing baseplates are interchangeable with the paris (long shot, I know...) then you might also test just swapping hangars.

I'd assume that's for a future rev on the hangars? i don't see where these current ones come apart, unless you can pop the bushings on/off the axle with some kind of tool.

Re: Stalkers=the best truck ive ever ridden!!
These trucks definitely have a smooth-feeling ride. Most noticeable when your wheels are ovaled/flatspotted - they reduce some of the jittery feeling.

Sadly, Gullwing pivots are considerably smaller than Paris or Randals. Paris is a bit smaller than Randals, I know, so maaaybe they could be interchanged with a pivot cup swap, but otherwise, nope.
If you made your own pivot cup with Nylon tubing, delrin, or what have you, you could put Gullwing hangers on pretty much any other baseplate, though.

Ahhhhh bullshti. Just ride it down the block once and you can tell. It's not a matter of small degrees and gray areas. If you don't believe it in the first 5 minutes, ride it back to back with a board that has regular trucks. There's nothing magic here.
