Gullwing Chargers - What should I do???
I'm hoping the answer is to just get out and ride, but I'm having difficulty rationalizing that everything is safe and sound. The front truck's pivot cup worn down and there was lots of slop, so I found a good replacement (too big, but I heated it up and stuffed it in) that seems to work well and everything's snug. The rear truck's pivot has no slop and clearly sits deeper in the pivot cup while the front is definitely not sitting in as deep. I'm confused why there's such a big difference between the front and rear trucks and worried about their integrity when riding them, especially if I'm tearing down a hill. What do you think?

Maybe a factory defect with the pivot cup. What kind of pivot cup brand did you buy from.

I contacted Sector Nine and they sent me the replacement cup, but it was the wrong one. They sent me another one that was supposed to work, but there ended up being too much slop so I used the wrong one and just stuff it in to make things work.
There's definitely a factory problem here, but it's with the pivtot not the cup. The pivot in the front truck isn't sitting in as deep at the pivot in the rear truck. Something's not sitting right in one of them or there's a casting problem of some kind, but I don't know enough about trucks to know if it's safe to ride on or not.

Re: Gullwing Chargers - What should I do???
I would say to just ride around slow for a little while and hope they settle in.

Well there mightve been a casting problem did it look like that when you baought because if not I think it wouldve been I think a pivot note gullwing has known to get it wrong although there are some awsome things at sector nine it is not exactly top of the line.

If you don't feel safe riding that cup then you can buy a new set of khiro cups for like $5 at a shop. I think it takes the large ones. Even your stock cupped truck doesent look as deep set as my chargers.

Yup, pop for some small Khiro's, nice and snug. The stock pivots do not last long. If they are the Chinese ones you may want to think about some Venom bushings as well, nice upgrade.

Sorry... i saw the magic words...
NOTE: If your front hanger slips out of the pivot cup while you are hauling ass, the sudden torque could break your ankle.

This was a joke... right?
Just from the way the trucks are designed, it doesn't seem likely that the pivot would slip out of the cup (the pivot mostly just rotates inside the cup, unlike in conventional trucks).
If there were a situation when the pivot could slip, it would be when you're pumping really hard - and then your truck would simply stop responding to the lean of the board. Dangerous to be sure, but not life threatening, since you'd just be going pumping speed.
Anyways. You seem to have fixed the problem for the front truck, and your back truck looks fine. Go out and ride.

just go ride that thing, how fast do you go anyway?
I have a bunch of skateboards
Isn't this what you're supposed to put in a signature?

This is exactly what I'm worried about
Worst Case Scenario #1: The front truck's pivot isn't in as deep as it should be and it slips out while I'm riding.
Worst Case Scenario #2: The rear truck has issues (why is the pivot sitting so much deeper than the front) and the kingpin or another part fails while I'm riding.
It would be really nice to know if one of the trucks has a problem. What to do? I've emailed Sector 9 to ask if replacement is an option. I think I'd feel better if both pivots were sitting the same.

No faster than 50km/h (30mph) and carving/speed checking the entire time.
I'm really looking for some expert advice here. Is there a problem with one of the trucks? More importantly...which one is it?

take out both pivot cups and measure the depth of the holes
my guess would be that it's an irregularity with the pivot cup itself
you could try out some braided nylon hose if that be the case, it especially feels good in those plates imho

There's no problem. I guess your truck with the new pivot will have a little less slop than the other one. I really think you're worrying about this too much. Think about how a Randal-style truck works: the bottom bushing is bearing most of the load, and to a lesser extent the pivot cut is taking a little load on its side.
When you lean, the bushing compresses and there is a force on the pivot that both rotates and pushes sideways, but mostly rotates. The bushings, bushing seat, and pivot cup all prevent the sideways force from your lean from popping out of the pivot. Assuming you have bushings and a pivot cup, it's not just gonna pop out.
If you're reaaaallly worried, just buy some khiro pivot cups - they're less than $5
Go skate. You've made me think about this too much.

Re: Gullwing Chargers - What should I do???
yeah just a few days a ago, i seen a dudes truck come out of the pivot cup when hitting a wall. but he was riding no name gullwings on a evo haha. those trucks are def not ment to be at that angle so i can see why it happened.

Re: Gullwing Chargers - What should I do???
I think I'm confusing people. My concern is with the hangers' pivots and how deeply they're sitting. Looking at the pictures, the front pivot doesn't sit nearly as deep as the rear...and I can't figure out why. I'm assuming one of them is fine and the other isn't. Your assistance to help me fix the problem is greatly, greatly appreciated.

Re: Gullwing Chargers - What should I do???
if the kingpin is lineing up whats the issue, if you really have a problem get a mallet and hammer it in gently, your front looks good the back should not be too much of an issue
