I ordered some "Core" trucks from one of our distro's out of curiousity. From the photos they looked like Indy copies, so I figured they'd be a decent choice for the sliding crowd or someone wanting an inexpensive, Indy-like truck.
Upon inspection, they're basically Indy copies. Black ano'd or powdercoated bases (can't tell for sure) and mirror-finish hangers in 5", 6", and 7" widths. The geometry appears identical, but I haven't tried swapping hangers and/or baseplates yet. Yet. The (6-hole) baseplates use a kingpin that's almost identical to the ones used on Stage IV Indy's. What's interesting, however, is that the baseplate is cast with a hex-shaped cavity. Grabbed a hammer, and pounded out the kingpin (didn't take much effort). Pulled a grade-8 bolt (with a hex-type head) from stock, and slipped it right in. Voila! No slop, nothing.
Next step is to see if an Indy hanger will fit, and if a GK-style kingpin is long enough for decent bushings (the stock bushings are rock hard). I'm going to do some further testing, and if they hold up, we'll be stocking them (at very attractive prices).
Right now, we're looking at $28-30/pair for the version with the 7" hanger.
Did you ever get a review on it for sliding? Thanks for the review on the Grind King rims.

mark: i've had more core trucks for over a year, my first longboarding trucks. if you put in a 2.5" grade 8 kingpin, and put two bushings on bottom, and one on top......you will get the carviest truck ever! well maybe 2nd to originals.....try it

OK, I rode the Core trucks today, and they feel just like Indy's. Not too surprising, as Indy hangers fit the core bases perfectly. As mentioned previously, the Core bases have 6 holes, and a hex-shaped cavity to accept a hex-type fitting. A 2" grade-8 bolt works great, but a GK allen-style kingpin was too short unless you were running an insanely short top bushing. Something like a 2.25" grade-8 would be ideal for most carve-oriented riders
It's too soon to tell how well the cast pieces and axles will hold up over time, but at the price we'll be selling them for ($27-29/pair), you probably can't go wrong.
