    Default Independents vs. Trackers

What do you guys think would be a better choice for a board that is going to be used for carving and a lot of skatepark use...Tracker sixtracks or Independent 169's? And what are your reasons? Any reason why you may think one truck is better than the other? Thanks for the help.

Depends what you want for turning... Indy's have a straight pivot where Trackers have a bent pivot. The straight pivot allows for a more tippy turning action for pretty quick turning. The bent pivot creates a more progressive turn.

Indys turn quick but "come up short", and trackers turn slower (cept for midtracs) but "go the distance".

I'd vote trackers for that type of use..

BTW: I always felt that indys grind way better than trackers.. the aluminum Indy uses seems to be harder than Trackers aluminum..

I got a set of 6tacks a few weeks ago. I really like them for park riding. They are surfy. Much more than my 215s. Although this is not apples & apples. IMO

OK. So the sixtracks seem to be the best flavour, what sort of boards are you rockin them on?

If possible could you tell me how wide the boards with sixtracks on em are?

I have mine setup on a 9.75 powell peralta. With 9/16 of riser and right now cowboy punk wheels. However I find the axels stick out too much for my liking. I might cut a couple bearing spacers in half to space the wheels out a bit.

    Thanks bean-a

I would like to try the sixtracks out on my 36" Gravity pool deck (It`s 9" wide)but I`m not sure if that would make it to wide. I really don`t understand what the go is with running wider than normal trucks.

I am currently running old Indy 139`s with Bulldog Dub cons and it feels a little tippy on the half pipe. Is there any dis-advantages running trucks that are wider than your board in the park?

The only ones I can think of are tripping over the wheel when you push. I had some shogo kubos on my powell, but the rear was little wide for my liking. They are in the buy/sell forum now. Wanna trade wheels?

Nah.........thanks for the offer! I`m into da wheels but I just have to get the trucks sorted! I`ll be getting some sixtracks just to try on this board, can always stick em on something else if they are to much for my 36".

Realisticly, on the wheel swap idea, postage from Japan would cost the same as buying new wheels in the states.

what wheels are you gonna use?
Hoepfully not the dubcons.. that will be wayyyy too wide....
One disadvantage of wider trucks than decks in a park situation is reduced leverage on the trucks, due to the narrower platform ... that and they just look bad.....

They will work fine with the Gravity if you run some more narrow wheels....

i like indy's with bones hardcores, like a yellow in back, maybe a blue in the front. That helps to counteract the differences in the pivots.

I am currently riding Tracker 149s with Bones Hardcore Mediums. I dig the setup. I like the way the Trackers turn smoother than Indys. Fury's are very similar to Indys in that they turn real quick, but lose it in the end.

I dig the way the Trackers grind. They seem to be a bit harder. I didnt get the "grind grooves" as quick as I did with Indys.

I`ve seen your quiver atxjimatx, in the photo section and that makes me believe you are probably fairly well versed in this particular matter. I would like to know what you`d recommend in the way of trucks/wheels for a gravity 36".

I used to ride six tracks bitd. I stil have my trackers and might break them out again, but since the mid-90s I have been on Indy. I am now running Indy 215s with Spitfire Cardiel wheels, 1/8" risers and 1/16" shockpads on a deck I cut out of a blank. The Indys turn great and grind great, although I have only grinded them on concrete once as everywhere as metal coping these days.

My longboard has Seismics. I think there are in reality the best design out there, expensive but now that I am an adult I can afford skatebaord parts. It's a cheap hobby overall.

Another plug for Indy in indurance and dedication to the sport. Sure it's gone the way of being a trend, but they have been around forever.

Speaking of all this, does anyone know where you can get one of those indy t-shirts that says "Trendependant" ?

The Trendependant shirts are no more. Once they got the Cease & Desist letter from NHS they quit making them. I was fortunate enough to get a few before they quit making them. There are rumors that someone might start printing them out of their basement or something, but I havent seen anything yet.

It was hilarious to see SAlba wearing one on the cover of Concrete Wave a couple issues back.

Trendependant shirts were made by a guy on S&B. He got a letter from Indy telling him to stop making them. I've got one even though I don't ride Indys.
