Torsion Feel without the truck
Like the title says;
I recently setup a board with tracker 184 darts and blue hardcores, and I tightened the nuts to zero on both trucks. For those of you who don't know what that means, it is to have the kingpin nut tightened just even with the nylock. Anyway, I went and tried it out, and it was amazing. It was comparable to riding originals, but it was comforting to know that if I wanted to, I couldv'e tightened them.
But anyway, I recomend it if you are looking for something different.

I dont like the feel of torsion trucks.. but i do like the deep turns.
but the process of center to max turn is something less than desired, IMO.
But hey, if you dig it then rock on & shred it!

what is the difference between a torsion truck and a regular truck?

In current practice, it works like this:
--"regular" trucks using elastomer cushions on either side of the baseplate rely upon the "spring back" or rebound of the rubbery cushion to control the hanger. You know, the two "bushings" on either side of the hanger that get squashed as you turn and that "try" to return the truck to "straight".
--"torsion" trucks "twist" (or torque) a single elastomer/rubbery cushion, rather than squash it. The elastomer resists the twisting, and then "tries" to straighten back to "straight".
--Torsion trucks have some design limitations/feature that lead to a higher axle height than a Randal or Indy (for example), and are all produced with a 45-degree kingpin angle (you can wedge a Revenge to change that). The design lends itself to a very turny, deep-carving truck and most designs incorporate some form of "positive stop" to prevent wheelbite. Exkate and Baku have stops inside the bushing area, and the Reveng trucks have it outside the bushing, so you can see it.
Do some searches in these forums for terms like "revenge" or "exkate" if you're not sure what I'm talking about.

I hear you, I don't like torsions either. THat's why I was so suprised at how well these felt, without the jerkiness of of like a seismic.

I tried that with my indy 215's and blue hardcores. Felt like originals.

I've been using blue hardcores along with soft Supercush's. They just have a good feel to them. Much better then the yellow's, too hard and don't turn all the way.

I've found little slalom trucks ride tight like some of the torsion trucks but only on short wheel bases.
I still don't get how making a old bushing truck really loose and floppy compares to the originals? Where's the fluid linear resistance?
Well I've met a few people who don't like the new types of trucks. If you're getting too much "jerkyness" or return to centre then your originals probably aren't adjusted properly. Seismics are a pain as you have to rebuild them with the right springs to get the setup spot on and then you're stuck with them like that.
I'm still hoping that Scott can sort out some softer springs as the 3 replacements are all too hard for my 140lb. To keep the trucks soft and fluid I end up putting too much stress on the tops of the U shaped mating that takes the lug. This creates loads of play in the centre where there is more chance of wobble.
If that's you Mr Imbrie, Hi! I hope everyone is well.

It is not only making them floppy as hell, but the bushings in it just give it a nice return to center and pumping feel. I don't own originals, but skate with two of their team members, so I have had my experiences with them. And I second that seismics are a pain. I have mine dumped to 0 preload, just to eliminate MOST of the jerkiness, but not all.

Thats why as far as Im concerned standard trucks with the right bushing combos outskate ANY torsion & all that truck out there.
Originals get way too twitchy & have NO stability, IMO.

Yeah dude, I don't like torsions because I don't like the idea of buying a truck and not being able to tighten it and be able to dial it in the way I want, not how someone else envisioned with different springs and all of that garbage.

Tyler, take a close look at the Revenges in the other thread: those can be adjusted. Technically, an Exkate can too, but it's easier to see what you're doing with the Revenge trucks.

I saw those, and am mildly interested, but the 90mm height doesn't appeal to me. I am to use to lowrider boards, it is hard enough for me to adjust to riding seismics on my mad bomber.

I can bomb to a decent speed on my originals and feel fine. I have s10's by the way.
