    Default trucks for carbon evo

    Hey duudes!

I just bought a carbon evo..and think that this board deserves some other trucks than randals.

Thinking of getting a pair of jimZ 200mm speedhangers with 10mm axles..but I dunno..Radikal and Magun seems like nice trucks too.

If I decide to go for the jimz..I would like to have some info where to get bearings that would fit those 10mm axles..

Would like some input about which trucks to use from you guys riding carbon evos..

    No bitching please. Just facts.

For 10mm bearings, Sinsystems makes cheap ceramics which aren't half bad at all. Also, Reflex makes some 10mm bearings, but I have no idea how good they are.

I think some Maguns would look really nice on a carbon evo. Just stick em in some r2 baseplates, or r1s I guess. It's my dream "high-tech" truck, no spherical bearings to worry about and no extra bearings. Just a bit pricey though

    Jawes,

took these pics today of Clay's Carbon Evo. We got matching decks and both used black Jim Z hangers and Speedplates, but Clay sprayed his baseplates black. I prefer the billet look of the raw alloy.

Thought you'd like to see these, and Clay reckons that Black Crails wouldn't be worthy of that deck (hey, just passing on the message - don't shoot).

    Cheers

    That looks awesome man!
Do that board have a wooden core?
I ordered the foam/carbon only version.

Did you order your hangers and plates direclty from jimz?
Are those 174 or 200mm axles, and are they 8 or 10mm?
If they are 10mm..what kind of bearings do you use, and what kind of spacers...and most important of all, where did you get them?
Those wheels, what are they? Died flywheels? How did you do that????

    Many questions..

    Jawes,

    it is a 9-ply wood/carbon Evo.

Hangers and plates came direct from Jim Z and are currently loaded with 200mm X 10mm axles. The bearings are from Jim as well, but we have also used Sin System's on these axles. The spacers are stolen from a set of Sin Systems.

The wheels are Fly 97's and were dyed using Hot-dye Fabric Dye. You dissolve it per the instructions on the pack. Bring it to the boil on the stove. Turn off the heat and place the wheels in. Leave until they are the colour you require. We have now used Black, yellow and red.

    Cheers

PS. I wanted a full carbon board, but the time delay to get it was going to be like months, so I settled for the wood/carbons. Glad I did as the full carbons are way to pretty to ride in case it gets scratched. These ones are just cool and light and stiff and not too pretty. I'd say PURRRRFECT!!!!!

I'm thinking of getting myself one for x-mas...what did the wood./carbon cost you?
