Default Newbie type question, but truck related

Whats the deal with flipping the rear hanger on Randall 150? I mean how is it done and for what purpose. (Im guessing it improves carving somehow since all the board Ive seen it done on are those type set ups)

flipping the hangar on a randal with make the truck lower and turn a bit less, by flipping the truck, it becomes more stable (due to it being lower) and also due to the fact that it turns less, overall, its a good idea to do on any board used for downhill carving thats equipped with randals, you wont really notice the less turning ability mid carve, so go for it

they do it on the rear truck, beside skateboards steer from the front. you want the front loose, and the rear stable. flipping the rear hanger makes it more stable.

Actually the reason it's more stable when you flip it is because it changes the angle degree of the hanger. If you look at a Randal you'll see that the pivot isn't in a straight line with the axle.

If you go to the link that Jimb linked to you'll see exactly why the truck gets more stable by flipping it. It's really not the lower stance that accomplishes the stability.

well yeah, its the negative castor thing, changin the 50 or whatever degree angle to a lesser one, but also the lower truck is nice too

Oh I agree that a lower CG can only help. Didn't mean to come across like what you said wasn't correct. I just filled in a bit.

i changed mine between runs in a parking garage the other day and i think that it hardly changes the turniness but makes it smoother and more stable.
    I\'ll go first...

i took the risers of my dh and flipped the hangars. the result: a super stable low board that looks awesome and had hardly any negative aspects to it above stock. when i took off the risers i had choice but to crank down the trucks to keep the bottom from rubbing when i turn. the board rides very well and the way it turns is nearly identical to stock. the difference is that now the maximum turning is less, (car anaology: a steering wheel that only tirns 180 degrees. it still turns just it comes to lock sooner) that is what the board is like. the force need to turns is THE SAME, i am very pleasedwith this entire situation as force i skept to a minumum and all the necisary turning i still in the board.

I RECOMEND you experiment while you can, io mean why not if you dont like it turn it back to normal. also dont ride backward fast cause you will die due to its super turnyness. this is the only negative but who really cares when all the cool people ride forwards.

also deck is at the same height as the axle 8)
