    Default reviving beatup trucks

so a friend gave me an old shortboard setup to see what I could do with it. he must've left it in the rain for a while, considering everything is rusted down. the bearings on there were open on both sides, no sheild or seal, just look straight down at the balls. they will roll......sorta....

the wheels were average shortboard wheels and are now measuring in at about 37mm, where they started as 50s.

and the trucks, o boy the trucks. their kingpins are no longer capable of being tightened, which you have to do with a vice grip anyways, because the heads have been banged down and rusted down to almost circles. as of now, the kingpin is effeciently holding the hanger and base-plate together, and to get them a part now I might have to pull out the torch.

the lock nuts to hold the wheels on (what are these called?) were also circles, but I got them off finaly so I could try some different wheels on there.

the axles are stripped and crushed at the end of the threads, so correctly putting a bolt on there is currently impossible. that is probably the only thing that I do not know how to fix. I thought when the nuts came off they would straighten out the threads, but it didn't do it at all.

so what do I need to do to get these back in shape? the bushings actually looked pretty nice, I might steal those.....

I'll post pictures later, ya'll will surely appreciate the abuse....

sounds pretty beat up! but if you think about it, if the axels are really that bad and if you replace them, then new king pins and you totally redo em youre buddy might just be better off mowing some lawns and buy some new trucks. (and take care of em this time) but thats just me personally

ok kingpins can be replaced with most trucks, as far as the axles, if you have a tap and die, you can fix them, i just did that today i took an hold set of detructoes, recut the thread on the axles and put in new kingpinds and bushings and now they are great, but almost ground to the axles
