uptrucks?
anyone ridden those uptruck things yet? they look interesting but would be good to find out how they ride.

i really like these trucks but they are kinda quirky:
pros
- they're very light
massive return to center
incredible damping effect of all urethane construction
relieves the stress of making decisions (non-adjustable)
cons
- tough to assemble onto a deck because of bolt hole placement and clearance in those areas.
you gotta be careful that you don't set them up with screws that damage the urethane otherwise it starts to crack at the points weaked by fracture.
hard to find
they ride really smooth. return to center is so strong that during long drawn out - extended turns they can be too much. the new turn arresters keep them from biting out. not adjustable so you'll need several pairs hanging around.
if you can't understand what's right...
...there will be nothing left.

How much are they? Is shipping to the US just as much as the truck itself(rumors)?

I still think they are a gimmick type truck. When I see people start winning races on them, then Ill check them out.
Plus, Im such a control freak with my equipment, the idea of not being able to adjust my trucks is just...I can't even think of a word to describe it.

My reservation on these has always been, how long will the urethane last. Once it cracks, how to replace? Has anyone ridden them hard and long enough to know?

Part of the fun with longboarding is stuff like carefully dissembling your trucks, lubricating the pivot cup and cleaning the bushings, then assembling them again and screw down the kingpin nut exaclty as many turns as it was before, becouse you know it's the perfect setting for you.

on the other hand, how long will it takes befor you bend a normal hanger?
I have had my uptrucks allmost a year and I cant feel any diffrent now then a year ago.
I have the uptrucks on my little criuser and I love them. On worries about adjustment, their light and easy. you never have to think you just ride.
I will recomend all my friends for uptrucks. whne you criusing the uptrucks are the ****.
I ride the soft uptruck, The fastest I run them ar aprox 60 km/H and it worked. the only thing that happen was that the backtruck started to wobble.

These might be nice for my brother. For some reason he hates taking apart and messing with his stuff. In fact he refuses to take the bearings out of his Dragonfly, even though he got it in August, and the bearings have never been cleaned.
I'm a man...I can change...if I have to...I guess.

Depends on the type of riding, usually I do flatland pumping and don't bend Randal 150's. I know R-180's will bend under hard fast downhill speed runs, over time. But you can replace the hangar and not toss the whole truck.
I'll contact the uptrucks co. and see if they have a certain timeframe they guarantee the truck. For a long time I've been curious how they'll hold up to long flatland pumping, which pretty much beats the hell out of most trucks.

Wow, I just checked out the uptrucks.com site, they've come a LONG way from their two-truck selection and tiny flash webpage a few years ago. Plus a lot of testing information, might be worth a test drive...
How does the turn-stopper wheelbite prevention work? Do they just limit the range of the turn?

Hey pavedwave.
I have a set if you want to give them a try at the BBQ slalom on the 2nd.

Exactly. The hanger/axle comes down/up to meet the wheelbite-stopper bar and the truck stops turning. I cut one set down about 1/8", and Rick Kludy just took the ones I gave him right off. He said, "I ain't gonna be turning, much, anyway!!"

Anyone know of a place in North America to order the 180mm wide version?

Righteous! Thanks Larry -- would like to just crank some turns and see the action. I've put in a mail to uptrucks, awaiting response. ...and Salem's gonna rock! (you know its on the 12th right?) We're talking about coming a day early, if that actually happens I hope you got time to get a ride in!!
Ebasil -- sounds like the stopper would make it feel like a Revenge truck. Those things turn to a certain point, then a hard stop, which is why people have been talkin up its 'no wheelbite' point big time.
