    Default Soft riser pads

1/2" flat, are these too mushy? Would it be better if i used a hard riser with a shock pad instead?

It's going on this board but has Seismics with Gravity Street Gs. Occasionally I have used it in parks but mostly I use it as a carver/snobord x-trainer. It turns deep with the Seismics. So what do you think?

I'd go soft as Seismics don't dampen vibration well since the hanger
    pivots right on the kingpin....

i've got 1/2 inch soft risers and i want to sand them down to make them angle, so would it work well. please don't tell me to just buy a set because they are only 2 bucks, because i have these risers that aren't being used, so i want to actually use them.

so, basically, would some sanded down soft risers work as good angled risers? or would it mess up the trucks?

if it matters, i'm putting this on a mini thats gonna be used for smooth commuting and just screwin around. thanks.

Are your 1/2" soft risers SOLID? Soft wedges are solid and most, if not all, thick flat risers have cutouts and you may not achieve the same results if you cut them down to wedges.

If you're going to sand them wear a mask - urethane dust is not healthy.

And you'll need to be very careful with your measurements. Sanding probably isn't the best way to acheive a level finish; if you are out by just a small amount you'll end up with your trucks mounted at odd angles giving you strange turning responses.

Personally I'd rather leave a set of risers in the "just in case" stock gathering dust until they're needed than risk having to throw them away after bodging a cut... If you want to play with angles you can't go wrong with a Khiro rail riser pack

all the wood ones that i have seen made have turned out well.

im with chewtoy on this. leave the risers alone, and make some angled ones out of wood.

edit: Here's an old thread about home made risers

yeah, i might just go with the wood on this one or check around at some of my local skate shops to see if they have any. i'm sure the soft risers will become of some use in the future. thanks for the link and and thanks all for the help.

I wouldn't bother trying to mod those soft risers. I've sanded down the hard Tracker ones, and that's pretty easy.

Beware of the materials soft risers can be made of. The rubber ones (a-la Khiro) are great risers that do not react with the deck's finish. There are others, however, that are made of polyvinylchloride (PVC) that can turn the finish into a sticky goo.
