Default yet another (very) mis-drilled randal......

maybe more than the last year.

but my randals are mis-drilled. imagine that

anyways, I kept thinking that it was my drilling in my home-made boards that was screwing up the alignment. turns out its not. feels good to know that I'm drilling my boards pretty well, but now I've got screwed up trucks.

these are really off. some guy posted a pic of his and yall were all amazed about the off-ness of them, and its like no challenge against mine.

but what has everyone been doing with them? sending them back? the problem is, I've had these since november, and have been skating them a lot ever since then. so would they appear to not be trade-in-able?

thanks for putting up with another one of these......just the old ones didn't seem to pretain.

I hate to say this, but what you're seeing is par for the course. Most Randal baseplates need to have their holes enlarged/reamed a bit to fit some decks.

Believe it or not, there are worse problems: mis-aligned kingpin holes/bores, badly threaded axles, and mis-cast pivots. And then there are the weak kingpins, sharp-edged cup washers, etc.

    whoops, I wasn't clear.

the king-pin hole was misdrilled. the actual mounting holes are pretty good shape.

Yup, that's a common problem, too (see my previous post/reply).

so basically everyone just copes with it? I wasn't trying to bash randals if I came off that way, but seeing what people are doing about it.

Buying Crail, Holey, or Force trucks instead.

Its sad that things have to come to that, but, if its the only way, then boycott it is.

Yes, you do, Lobo. The parts are all interchangeable between the Force Industries and the Randal trucks, however.

Gorkite, I think we saw those at ASR, and that there's a photo of them in there. They looked like they'd been cast from a Randal as the master, and then cleaned up a little, ie the numbers and logos shaved off. Made in China?

I think I'm probably one of the few that's never owned a set of Randals -- I started skating about a year ago and have read story after story about problems with quality control. Fortunately, Crail became available for DH, then Holeys, and my ol' Trackers and Indys have been amazing with Khiro upgrades... not sure if I'll ever even try Randals. It's a shame, cos Randal was definitely the truck of choice when I first started reading this forum.

I feel like I'm dreaming when I hear Tyler mumbling something about "boycotting" Randal - that's almost heresy.
