DH crails: exactly what do they mean by DH
yeah I know, they are meant to go fast and are suposed to be stable.
but are they for downhill runs with hairpins and sharp curves, or are they for the straight bombs?

whats the specs on the crail dh trucks?

They're 180mm I beleive, with a 45* geometry, which is supposed to be a very good happy medium for stability and turnability.

Crails are pretty sweet. I have some set up on a Comet Voodoo, I think a couple other people are rockin this awesome setup too. They're a bit lower than randals and they come stock with one of those funk allen head inverse kingpins (Grade 8 at least). I've swapped out the bushings on these to radikals in the back and stimulator's up front with a big normal bolt and flat washers. This setup is real stable but carves quite nicely too, I don't do a whole lot of downhill but I barreled down a hill I'm a bit scared of on my other setups (prob a 30 something hill) and had problems whatsoever with wobbles. I haven't tried DH randals but the crails seem to be a less QC ridden and sleeker looking truck with a bit more carve to it.
Unless you're doing real fast downhill or have a board with builtin wedges I think the DH randals are a bit overkill
Crails are nice though

I have Crails on my Insect pin and they are awesome.
The stock Moog bushings are pretty stiff and stable for straight bombing, but if you want a really carvy feel you'll need to change the bushings to something softer.
I recommend radikal bushings. They are the best bushings I have ever rode. Buy the fire pack, which comes with 5 sets of the hardness you choose. You will need to put a longer kingpin but it's worth it.
And they have very good quality control, CNC drilling and the axels are straight.

Aaarrrgghhhh, whenever I hear of this setup I get antsy as **** I've been working on a very Voodoo-esque shape I want to build, and I've also been on the hunt for some Crails as I really want a non-dropped speedboard. Guys like David Price (davidp) here ride the Voodoo with 35* Randals very, very hard, it looks to be like a very nice shape. Maybe we could skate sometime soon and I could ride yours

To answer your first question, YES they were designed for DH.

..I have 4 sets of Crails. Tracker Hour glass Bushes in a couple and SuperCush 90's in the others. The carving boards have Tracker bushes and when I want to Bomb I put the Moog top bush in only and presto! I have a bomber.

i have a set of crails on my 9-ply dh with rockets and 83mm 78a flywheels. they are very turny (i have dh's on it before hand) and so far they seem VERY stable. the true test for these will be at Windham Mountain because the access road looks to be 55mph

so how would everybody compare their stability and turn-ness to randals and holeys?

The Crails are less turny than a Holey or an RII, no matter how you set up the Crail.
The Crails are more stable than an RII or a Holey.
The Crails have a larger baseplate than a Randal or a Holey.
