Well, what do you plan on doing on it?

The Originals are gonna be great for hard carving, but squirrly at higher speeds.

The Randals would be a better choice for just easy carving and cruising, and higher speeds.

i plan on mainly cruising to campus and around the streets. basically i'll be pedestrian dodging, cruising the streets, bombing some hills and pissing people off on the city sidewalks. dont really do any really high speed racing type stuff, like to keep it chill and mellow and love to cruise and carve. so thats what i'll be doing...

then def. go with the randals... they won't let you down (unless the casting is off haha)... basically the originals are EXTREME and who knows what kind of wheel bite issues might arise from them.

If that is somewhat of a flexy deck then the Randals would work better. Also if you only have one board then I'd say get the Randals. They will give you a better all around board that works well in most situations, and a slightly cushier and quiet ride.

If you want a board that turns like no other than get the Original S8's. If you're doing mostly flatland carving than Original's are the shizzle. I skate both trucks, and when I want to make things exciting I pull out the Original Custom 45 with S10 trucks. This board will get your attention
If you want to carve, just lean over. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-12/902849/wave2.gif

I ride an Original Freeride 41" w/ S8's and 76mm Sector9 Goddess of Speed wheels for my carving and slower speed board. To answer your question between the Randalls and S6/S8, my personal preference would be the S6/S8s. If your board is thin enough at the truck mounts you would be making a huge mistake going with the randalls. The 200mm S8's should clear the edges of your board. In terms of dodging people, swerving around traffic, and other obstacles that can be found on a campus/city, the Randalls are hopelessly lost next to the Originals. I live in a busy part of D.C. and I feel almost more agile on my Original than I would feel running through people. In terms of speed, I take my carving board up to 35mph without any problem, granted you don't want to have your trucks at the loosest possible setting. I use randals on my Evo when I'm bombing hills or plan on cruising in the mid to upper 30s for extended periods of time so if you were just doing bombing, some carving, and cruising I'd say go with Randals. However, if you have any type of city riding involved you must buy the Originals. Altough they are a tiny bit less stable than the Randals, unless you are really going to be doing downhill (40+), they won't show you a speed limit.

i think originals are too turny. i like the feel of randals far better.

i duno if i would say they are **too turny**.. mine are tightened up on one of my board set-ups and they are pretty decent at slow sleeps feel solid.. once i hit up a hill they come alive.. along with coming alive you tend to lose the control over them.. i would recommend randals if you are plannin on doing any type of downhill riding.. the originals slide out SO EASYILY if you are gonna do a fast hard carve expect for your tail to meet you up front.. its just how they are.. and the added weight isnt exactly the greatest for carrying around in and out of classrooms *trust me i know*.. ultimately its up to you.. good luck

Agreed on the downhill stuff: go with a randall, or spice it up and hit up one of the up and coming downhill truck companies.

    By downhill I mean 30mph+.

I routinely take my S10 Custom 45 up over that mark BUT real bombing on Originals takes practice, thats for sure. Just like slow speed ripping takes practice on a randal.

If you are sliding out on your hard carves with Originals do one or more of these things and you will be set:
    1. Get a wider truck.
    2. Get a deck with a shorter wheelbase.
    3. De-wedge the trucks.

The wheel base is the main issue with sliding but all of the above will help to synch up your turning arc with your wheel base.

I am working on some prototypes with plain old angled risers. The stability is way up and it takes a lot of the squirel out of them, its a prety cool combination, give it a shot.
