    Default TRUCK OBITUARY

my beloved UPtrucks LM (born January 3, retired 2005-April 25, 2006)

they served their master well, despite the ravages of a few ollies ealy in life and daily abuse without limiters. they provided a uniquely smooth and buttery ride with limitless turning capacity, whether they were dodging pedestrians, cutting a U-turn on a 7' wide path, or carving downhill at a well estimated 30+ mph on a 24.5" wheelbase.

as a couple, they reared 4pair offspring during their short but fruitful life, all delivered straight from brazil with V12 wheels to match. this new generation appears healthy, and is to be adopted by my friends this summer on my decks (no kicktails for these ones) and teflon-sealed VXB bearings.

Then you better stop riding all of your trucks. I can easily tell how a truck will be looser on a hot day, and tighter the next. Heat will change everything, the only way you could get away from it would be to ride ceramic trucks with metal springs (actualy, the heat will change those too, so forget that.) Those trucks look interesting, and depending on the price, I might have to pick a pair up one of these days.

Oh, and akary, I mourn your loss.
    I'm a man...I can change...if I have to...I guess.

Your bushings are affected by temperature as well... I rode all winter up here to work and back and a few days when it was -30 celcius and I can tell you that everything stiffens up when it's cold. Even around -10 it's noticable.

It very noticeable when you tune a slalom board in the winter (temps in the 20-40 degree celsius range, I had it dialed for TS) and then try the same board on the same TS course in 60 plus spring weather. I was like WTF happened to my trucks? I thought one of my friend had loosened them up as a joke.
I can feel the difference in rebound and grip in my wheels too.

The thing is that you can switch out bushings...not uptrucks.

i cant really say ive noticed a drastic change in the way my trucks feel due to temperature, but you are right... regardless if i feel it or not **** is still happening (yea i took chemistry)... i just dont really find it that noticeable... i switch boards alot, and by time i get back to riding a specific one i cant recall the feel of it. i just dont think they would be good

it seems like the skin of was broken where the outer set of bolts made contact with the urethane. this could have geen the start of the degradation. it is important the the outer structure of the uptruck is not compromised (by oversized hardware) or this type of damage is inevitable.
if you can't understand what's right...
    ...there will be nothing left.

the trucks were mounted right, and the tears started at the very sides of the trucks, not in near the hardwear. there are no marks on the trucks near the bolts.
