    Default Torsion Truck Differences

    I have skated on Exkates for the past 10 years. I love the feel of the trucks but I'm frustrated by their non-adjustability, pins breaking and service.

    I recently built a board and put Revenge trucks on it. The trucks are nice but I did notice a different ride vs the Exkates.

    Both are really smooth turning. The Revenge felt really smooth and solid on the second half of the turn. However, they seemed more tippy and did not seem to pump for more speed as well as the Ekates (first half of turn). I really missed this. Have others noticed this? Is it because the Revenge bushings are soft, geometry, etc.?

    To help, I have been considering Originals. Are they good for pumping up speed? Has anyone tried front/back truck combinations for these trucks?

    It sounds like to me you need to try some conventional trucks. If you want the adjustibility of a truck and be able to pump and carve more smoothly, check out some Trackers. You can put in any duro or kind of bushing you want to match your expectations and you can always wedge or dewedge to change the geometry of the truck. Just my 2 cents.

    I haven't ridden Revenge but I used to ride Exkates a lot and remember the great pumping. I suspect the weaker energy return from Revenge is due to the much smaller bushing.

    I've had Originals. After the initial *wow* over the nutty squirelly turning I quickly learned to hate them for their lack of subtlety in turning and uncontrolled spring-to-center action. They feel exactly like Pittsburgh trucks from the 70's. Exkates are way better than Originals, IMHO of course.

    I concur with the recommendation that you try modifying some standard trucks with bushings & wedges. More steering in front, less in back, super high rebound bushings, super grippy wheels ... basically a slalom board. The low steering back end drives the board forward with each turn. The high steering front makes the turns easier and makes it easy to get a good rhythm going, as long as it doesn't oversteer and waste energy and speed. My favorite trucks for pumping are Indy's but just about any truck at all can be modified with wedges and bushings to perform better.
