Default Insect City Bomber + Grippins + what trucks?

    Hi,
This is my first post, but I've been lurking for a while and can't seem to get the answer to my question...

I bought an Insect City Bomber with Abec 11 Grippins a few months ago, but can't seem to get it set up the way I would like it with the trucks I have, so I'm looking to buy some new ones. I'm after a pumping/city cruising setup for travelling the extremely uneven pavements of Newcastle upon Tyne (hence the 78a Grippins).

    So far I've tried -
    1. Seismic 155 aluminium 30 deg front and back, red springs back, yellow springs front. This was the closest I got to what I was after, but the crap surfaces I have to ride on made the Seismics really noisy and took all the pleasure out of the ride (stealth cruiser - I don't think so!)

    2. Tracker Fulltrack re-issues with white hourglass bushings. This was a quiet ride, but I was getting wheel bite even with 3/4" risers. I kind of feel that if I have to put 1" risers on to avoid wheelbite, then these aren't really the right trucks for this setup.

    3. Tracker Aggros with the stock stimulator bushings. Nice stable, quiet ride, minimal wheel bite. This is what I've stuck with, but it's no good for pumping, so I'm starting to think I should put the Seismics back on, but I know I'll hate the rattling after a day or two.

    So what's next -
I'm tempted by a set of Revenge trucks, if I can find a UK dealer or Revenge will answer my emails.
If I go for Originals I guess I need S8s for this deck, which seems too wide., am I right?
Do I go for a traditional slalom truck like the Tracker RT-S/X?
Or would a set of Holeys do the job - although I think that these will also be too wide.

Anyone riding an Insect City Bomber with Grippins - I'd love to know what works for you.

    Thanks

Tracker RT-X/S combo or Orion SP 150's. May need some wedging, but it should work well.

How about something a little different: Original S6?

I have them on a Loaded Pintail (similar wheelbase and flexiness I think) and they are way way fun to pump and carve around the nasty streets and sidewalks of Brooklyn.

Don't know if they have a UK distributor. Check with them at:

You can read lots about Original in the Trucks forum.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Sorry Gizmo,

Didn't read all the way through your post. I see you're already thinking about Originals. Highly, highly recommend it. Anything more fun would be illeagal.

I ride my Insect Sidewinder (very close in profile/size to the City Bomber) with 139 RTX/RTS wedged/dewedged, Radikal Bushings and 81 Grippins and it's my favorite short/medium distance pumping setup at the moment (I did try the 105 and 130 Seismics on it and didn't like it as much). I'm not sporting ZigZags instead of Grippins (the reflex formula does seem to pump a little bit better). I have Holeys and they will be too wide (not enough leverage to get a good pump).
