Default I broke my Revenges (update 6/7)

I got these on Tuesday, set them up on my big 56" cruiser that I made and was blown away. They really make a board that big come alive. I'd tried Randals and Trackers on it, while they both turned alright, it was a tank and always wanted to roll downhill rather than turn. The Revenges totally changed that, they turned it into a pure carving machine.

So I'd been skating them like a half hour a day since Tuesday, just cruising and carving the neighborhood streets like I've never been able to. Today I was riding them to school for an AP test review, cruisin' along. I'm up on the sidewalk and I have to drop down to the street. I ride off the curb, lift the nose up with the tail and hop down. Only a few inch drop at most. Anyway, I land back down and hear that sound... something just popped off and is skipping along on the road.

I stop and find it, a little chunk fell off the front truck. It was one of those "lips" that sticks out to prevent wheelbite. It's the one that is easiest to see when the truck is mounted on a deck. Just popped right off. They're the newer, wider trucks that I got from thelongboardstore.com. I'm thinking maybe they have a few issues with the first couple hundred trucks made as they're a new model. I've heard only great things about Revenges, and never of one breaking.

Has this happened to anybody? Or is it just me? I'm going to email Revenge as soon as possible to inquire about a replacement hanger and/or baseplate (I think it was the piece on the hanger... too lazy to run downstairs to check). I don't think any kind of glue will be able to hold this bad boy on.

    P.S. I'll have pictures tomorrow.

well from what i've heard, Revenge has excellent customer service, so if u explain the situation to them, i'm sure u'll have no problem getting ur truck fixed or just getting a new one.

I just broke mine yesterday, fell off the board and it flew into the curb and the piece that covers the bushing chipped off. I emailed them and hopefully I'll get a new truck because I love my Revenges.

i heard that people are really nice at revenge customer support and give alot of replacments if the trucks break.

I had a pair of Exkates that broke on a carve and I dinged my elbow up pretty good. I will never use those trucks again.

I have a hard time figuring out why you would want to repair a truck that broke in the first place. It's a design flaw and it will happen again.

I'm glad they have great customer service but damn it should never happen in the first place. If you break your feakin arm are they going to send you a replacement
If you want to carve, just lean over. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-12/902849/wave2.gif

it was a design flaw they had in their earlier models. i think they changed the design/structuring of the little tabs now.

they still run the risk of having the bushing break inside...

cost me a hole in my head and a bunch of jailhouse scars on my arm

the truck locked on a turn, and well, i was straight on target for a car, and i jumped off and skidded a little on my shoes and smashed the car, breaking the windshield and denting fenders...

they require some maitenence as well and a close check

    otherwise, good trucks

When you break a bushing in Original trucks the truck ends with les resistance not more, your weight acts to keep the truck together. There is no possible way to 'lock' a truck by breaking a bushing or other component as the hanger will always rotate on the kingpin regardless of whether or not it has bushing support.

The bushing acts only to engage the spring to generate resistance, there for, no bushing means no resistance, not more resistance (which is generally described as a 'lock').

My guess is that your bushing was broken before you started down the hill. After looking at your video I think that hitting that man-hole cover about half way down your line may have had a lot to do with it as well.

Brutal fall though, glad to see you are still riding.

Yeah, definitely think the bushing was broken before the hill. After all the hospital crap, I went and evaluated my board, and found that the bushing had actually cracked so far that it had lodged in the spring, thereby "locking" the truck or whatever. Definitely my fault on that one and theres no doubt about it. Can't beat their turning. Just gotta maintain them. Then again, when you think about it, most people forget how often they tune other trucks. With conventional trucks, you change your bushings and upgrade kingpins and what not. Just because originals and other "torsion style" trucks don't use compression bushings, doesn't mean they don't require a checkup every so often. A+ for Original Customer Service! That care package you sent me ruled... then again, the shirt went well with my injuries when I wore it...

    "I'm dead, your next"

Now what it should've said on the back was...

    "Wear your helmet."

I tried Exkates on my LBL 56" Cruiser, and they were a cool ride....for about a half hour. The trucks stripped right out of the baseplates. Luckily, at the time I was just carving around in front of my house.

Must have something to do with that torsion design, but I will never try them again. Too risky.

Revenges look cool. I hope they work the bugs out. For now, it's Originals, Holeys, and Randals for me.....no problems with any of them, so far. I do wish the Originals were easier to move from board to board. It's hard to grab your nuts on the underside. ...they are too close to the baseplate. Still fun as hell to ride.

It's nice that Exkates have a lifetime warranty, but those are just one of those things that you hope never to use. They're amazing when they work but make riding sheer terror if the internal turn stop pins snap. Open up the trucks and you'll see what I mean. Metal pins just a tad larger than coffee stirers are all that's between you and wheel bite. I got them repaired and they run like a dream, but there'll always be that bit of doubt in my mind. My Revenges have served me well thus far. Good luck with healing and getting everything repaired/replaced.

Yeah, Revenge sent me an email back last week asking for my shipping info to send a replacement. Here's what the email said:

    Thank you for choosing Revenge
They get my thumbs up. Hopefully my other truck won't break :o
