    Post Gullwing Mission 1 experiments

having combed this board for suggestions with these trucks and not finding many conclusive results, ive done some tinkering and come up with what's working for me and figured id add it into here in case someone else is looking for help. should be a decent amount of these trucks around now on some sector 9s.

im about 220 pounds and as im sure all of you know the stock bushings suck. after a trip to the local kickflipper shop (which was going out of business so had really cheap stuff, like bones swiss for 25 bucks and dc shoes for 45), i came up with a set of destructo hard bushings, white, and a set of indy orange bushings, medium. after a couple of tries ive decided on a destructo white barrel bottom, indy orange cone top, with a flat washer on top. no washers on the bottom of these trucks, just the barrel fitting into the plate.

this setup just barely fit onto the stock kingpin, and ive got the kingpin nut turned down so the kingpin is just flush with the nut and wont vibrate off.

for my size this feels real nice, pretty responsive, good return to center, and alot more "lively" than the stock setup

ps this is on a s9 austria

damn thats not sweet at all. i will keep an eye on that. everything looked ok when i just pulled all the wheels off to swap out the abec5 greaseballs to amazing bones swiss! except that sector9 or whoever assembled the board shorted me on speed washers on two of the wheels, only had one each on two wheels and two on the other two. oh well.

I've been playing with M1's a little, too, and firming them up just like you did. I used Khiro or Indy bushings, but same deal. I think the single most important tuning tip is to ditch the stock bushings!

The contours of the hanger are still problematic on boards that get turned hard. The funky edges of the bushing seat will eject the lip of the bushing, then catch on it, preventing the bushing from seating back into the hanger. This makes the board stay in a "turning mode" and I've got one setup that will just roll in a big right turn circle it you step off it to see why it's suddenly oversteering to one side.

when i was using the stock bushings i had to crank the nut down about 3 turns to get them to be ridable under my weight. i had already put flar washers on the top so they were ok, but the bottom was doing as you described. i took a knife and "beveled" the bottom of the offending bushing and it seemed to help it stay in and i didnt notice a difference in turning. only my front bushing had this problem.

i wonder about grinding off that lip....maybe a longer kingpin too with a BIG flatwasher on the bottom...hmmm. i think i spend more time tinkering than riding.

I ride mine super loose so I dropped in dual cone Soft Bones Bushings and they work fine for me. However, not everyone is into the carvy surfy feel. I haven't had any stickiness yet. Perhaps that's because I'm running them so loose?
Yup, it's been confirmed that at the company I work for, I'm officially known as "That Skateboarder Guy". I think I need a shirt or skateboard with the "That 70's Show" logo replaced by "That Skateboarder Guy".
Want list: Carbon Belly Racer, Jefferson, 2011 Deez Nutz, Spindrift, NL Mutt
Reason I'm not getting anything yet: I have WAY too many boards...

    1. Not with the stock kingpin
    2. Yes, regular kingpins actually work in em.
