Default Crail DH vs Randal DH

    Hey guys,

Which is better for a drop-thru board? Crails or Randals? Which performs better? Which is better quality? Which is more inexpensive? Please write me back.

crails perform better, hands down. they have better quality control and ride superb! they cost about $56, while randals cost $40...but crails are the best way to go. I have ridden both for long periods of time and crails are the better of the two. randal dh's suck at lower speed and feel odd to me at higher speeds. crails are good for cruising and good for high speed bombing as well. I have taken my crails to 50mph with no problem....maybe even 55 by the end of the summer.

without a doubt...you should get crails.

randal dh's have horrible hangers, bad axles, and mis-drilled mounting holes.

You could also consider getting Randal 180's. I've pushed mine on my evo up to some good speeds with the back flipped and the front normal.

My vote is for the Crails. IMO the angle on the DH's isn't useful unless you're doing 55+

the angle isn't useful period.....because you can't turn the radius of any truck at that speed. above 30mph the only thing that keeps you stable is your ankles and your bushings

I can carve my Randal DH trucks no problem. Maybe I am just weird. I ride the trucks with the nut inlign with the top of the kingpin. They remain stable at 45mph (fastest I have taken them) but I am sure they could go faster.

Ive ridden Crails as well and they were nice trucks. They just werent what I wanted.

If you want to do some mild carving and some fast downhill bombs, then I would suggest the Crails. If you want the most stability without having to take many turns, then I would suggest the Randal DH

They're two completely different trucks. The R1's have a 160mm hanger and sit at a 35 degree geometry. Crails rock 180mm hangers and sit at a 45 degree geometry. Truck choice should depend on the type of board you're riding as well as the hills you plan on skating.

On the topic of 35 degree geometries - I think they kick ass. On a top mounted board, you can still turn tighter than any drop through deck and they feel super nice at speed. Force C7's for the win!

I just picked up some crails (as well as a bushing kit) and they're super nice...Also got some replacement kingpins for 'em from mark (thanks a ton).

On a drop-though board without any wedging, I'd get the crails.

that's nice and all, but the price dif. is a bit much. What is it, like, $10? oh well...

if i want this to be my straight speed board with little turns and a lot of slides, which is better then? Crails or Randals? If I do trade in my current Randals for the Crails, then what would the template look like? Could anyone give me a pic of the drop thru cuttin for a crail truck? Please?....

if you are really up for some serious speedboarding get dhs. I really dont know why some people say they dont turn at all. that is true if you are going slow but once ur to 25mph they turn fine. BTW, if you dont beleive me that they turn you can watch The video of rizzo on claremont, the video known as balls of steal, he is going from speeds 35-50mph and is doing some heavy carving.

    Wait, how about this:

-I stick with the Randal DH's I ordered from Mark at Mile High Skates
-I cange the bushings out on them (I have some red bushings from my Randal 150's which, I think, are about 80-90a, still on the soft range)
-I don't need to worry about getting 'em totally tightened up because I would be doing high speed carving (which would eventually lead to sliding after a hard carve)

Please tell me if this is a good idea... I NEED SOME INPUT ABOUT THIS!!

for an evo, i dont reccomend 180s. i havent tried crails but i expect theyd feel very similar to the randal. the upturned nose on the evo + Randals / crails means that the front truck has a lot of turn in them, which for speed, would make them very twitchy

I read somewhere on this forum from someone who modifies trucks that the Crails are of the poorest casting quality. The hangers seem to fall apart when trying to insert new axles or something to that nature.

I'd pick up a set of JimZ StimZ or Radikals for bushings, and maybe get some wedged risers.

I personally like my Randal DH's. Never ridden Crails though.
