Looser than loose.
Hi there, I recently built this little board out of a plank of 5/8" plywood, and threw these crappy old shortboard trucks on it.
"Wow." You must be thinking. "That must ride like anal rape."
Well you'd be wrong, it's the nicest ride EVER. It absolutely rips it up, and carves like a bitch.
Anyway, the trucks I've got on it, I have them so insanely loose that the hangar just rattles when you shake it, and the kingpin is actually totally loose, as in, there's no pressure being put on the bushings by the tightness of the kingpin, because it's not tight at all.
The nut is as loose as possible.
But here's my problem, because the trucks are so old, I can have the nuts right at the end of the kingpins, not actually doing anything except stopping the hangar falling off, and due to the oldness of them, the nuts do not get any looser.
So what do I do about getting another truck this loose? Because these trucks won't last for ever, but on a new set of trucks the nut will just unscrew themselves fall off the end due to the vibration once I start riding. So how can I get such looseness on another truck?
Thanks!

Re: Looser than loose.
Either use double white Khiro barrels or double clear Radikal barrels with the kingpin nut providing barely any preload.

Re: Looser than loose.
Sofa King, could you explain that in layman's terms?

Re: Looser than loose.
You want loose trucks, without damaging them, eh? Loosening and tightening the kingpin nut isn't the proper way to adjust your trucks turniness. You should put harder bushings in if you want them stiffer, softer bushings if you want them more turny. The kingpin nut should be in the same place, either way, to offer a bit of preload: it holds the whole system (hanger, bushings, washers, etc.) together without flop.
So you want your trucks really loose and turny? Get the softest bushings available on the market: Khiro whites or Radikal clears. The Radikals definitely have better rebound, especially if you weigh over 100lbs. You might be able to get more lean/turn from the Khiros, though. Even if you keep the kingpin nut snug, these bushings will let you turn baby, turn.

Re: Looser than loose.
Really? They're like having it insanely loose? By 'insanely loose', I mean the kind of loose where going straight takes more effort than not, and if you even just place one foot on the board and not even push down, then it leans to that side?

If you like it like that, buy some Originals.

Re: Looser than loose.
Originals you say...Do they come in the same size as regular shortboard trucks?

Re: Looser than loose.
Regular size = ?
They come in a 150mm wide version, that's the narrowest I do beleive.

you wouldn't want them that short too, they limit when they hanger or wheel hits.

Re: Looser than loose.
Definately get some originals if they're in your price range, but shipping could get expensive since Original is US based

Re: Looser than loose.
Yeah. I think I'll just keep going form old shortboard truck to old shortboard truck, keeping the nut in place with glue or something equally hilarious and cool and DIY. It's mostly for riding bowls and concrete, yet also it carves like a beast. Man I love it.

Re: Looser than loose.
Look for used ones. They pop up a lot in Buy/Sell.

Re: Looser than loose.
Get some seismics with bone springs.
And do khiro barrels have more rebound than khiro inserts?
