People always say that and I never understood the reasoning behind it. When did Randal Fuller or anyone else claim that their trucks do not require angled risers? Guys ride Splitfires on 50-degree Randal plates on the front of their slalom boards, and usually wedge between 10 and 20 degrees. They'll tell you that it makes a difference. It's the same principle as with conventional trucks: wedge for more steer, dewedge for less.
OP: Your trucks will definitely turn more if you wedge them. My friend rocks 180 hangers on DH baseplates on his Big Red X. Using rail wedges, he added a bunch of wedge to the front and took a bit out of the back. It tracks great; all the steering comes from the front.
