    Default Bushings

I've been doing a lot of searching regarding bushing replacements for Randal II 180's and have learned somethings...but mostly I am just confused.

The biggest thing that I have gathered is that you need to buy a khiro bushing pack to really experiment. The experimenting is what confuses me...how do you decide, I need to change my back trucks bottom bushing to this color to make my ride stabler/curvier/faster/etc. Is it completely guess and check, or do you learn to feel out which bushing needs to be changed. Or are there written rules saying harder top bushings on the front truck give your ride a stabler/curvier/faster/etc feel?

    Thanks,
    Darren

A lot of trial and error, but there are some general guidelines. For example, harder in back, softer up front. If you're a little guy, use the softest ones up front, and the next up on the hardness in back. Bigger? Use the med-soft in front and med- hard in back.

There are no real rules for top soft bottom hard or reversed. You can go to sk8kings.com and order Khiro seperates. Mile High Skates also has seperates and can dial you in fairly well just by your weight and board/trucks..He rides what he sells!
But for Vandal's, Mark at Mile High is an expert IMHO

    True, he knows a lot.

I just looked back at the original post and I see you're running 180s. Slap some flat washers on there and you'll carve like crazy.

Besides hardness, you may want to factor in the bushing shape too: given a certain duro (color), barrel bushings feel a little firmer to me than the cone ones, probably because there's more urethane that gets compressed when you turn.

Sorry guys...I went to sleep right after posting.

I weigh 175 lbs and am 6'. My board is an S9 Cosmic II J-Bay. My trucks are Randal II 180's (I'm flipping the hangers, flipping the kingpin, and installing flat washers today). I mostly do downhill carving around 35 MPH tops, mostly at a more comfortable speed of 20-30 mph though.

    Thanks for your help.

Blue or Red Khiro Bitch bushings would be worth considering. If you've got the dough, the JimZ or Tracker blue Stimulators would be good, too.

The bottom bushings have the most to do with your turnability, and the top bushings allow you to fine tune it. right? tell me if im wrong.

softer is turnier and harder is more stable. If you like to run loose trucks then you might consider soft or medium bushings with the nut cranked down some.

I'm just making sure I put my bushings back on the right way...

For the bottom bushing that comes stock on Randal 180's, does the wider or skinnier part face down onto the washer? I put the skinnier side down, but am second guessing myself for some reason.

skinnier part rests on baseplate, wider part on hanger.
