    Default Crails or Grizzly?

Which truck is better. Im deciding on these two trucks. I cant resist those blue crails @_@ but the Grizzlies look so strong. I think the crails are 45 deg and Grizzlies 55 deg. I have never tried 55 deg., Is that way to angled? Do the crails turn deep?
I want to carve but be able to use these trucks for downhill also. Intrested in setting trucks on a evo or hellcat.

Which one do you guys prefer.

First off Grizzlies can be both 45* OR 55*

I've tried Crails and they are well made trucks that turn decently deep and fairly stable at speed while still carvable, although for DH I prefer a 35* plate... From everything I have heard the Grizzlies are a very solid feeling truck thats also fairly versatile. I wouldn't expect either one to be much deeper turning than the other, but I'm only speculating... Also double check that you can drop-thru Grizzles on a Rayne. I want to say you can, but again I'm only guessing.

If I were you I would probably get the Grizzlies for the Evo and run them 45*/55* and get the Crails for the Hellcat.

The bonus is with the Grizzlies you get two different sets of geometry. EDIT- /\/\/\ yeah like EFG said
If you like to carve keep them on the 55 degree side. If you are going to go out bombing hills you can flip the hangar to get a 45 degree set up.
All accounts are that the Grizzlies are great trucks.
Crails are great too. I have Crails on two of my boards and I think they are great trucks for carving also, (with the right bushings and adjustment)

You cant beat the versatility of the Grizzlies though.

...and from reading the site...i heard that LY was releasing baseplates in 40...

with that you'd have the option of using a 45 deg angle and a 35

(someone please correct me if im wrong)

I heard the bennetts have a 60* plate! Both crails and grizzlys are great trucks, I'd say go w/ grizzleys they're more versitile plus free 10 mm bearings, also if your worried about bending an axle you wont w/ grizlleys.

This is true, also the new Bennetts are split axle.

No they're not. Only one axle on the speed truks. And this whole Split axle thing is getting kinda rediculus sometimes on SF, having split axles in itself won't make a truck gain any traction etc. its where the axles are placed compared to the kingpin pivot that matters.

The Bennets also have some insanely overized bushings wich I think will help them at higher speeds and make them a good DH truck, atleast for technical DH.
I hate signatures, so i turned them off

They are split axle, and I never they'd be bad for downhill I just wanted to inform him of the differences between the trucks before he made his decsision.

Sorry, but they are NOT split axle. Do a search on it. Ebasil has the lowdown on all of the specs.

    Lightbulb Re: Crails or Grizzly?

I think Crail speed trucks work really well, and I like them a lot after they've received a tuning with urethane. One thing I've noticed after replacing the kingpins with longer, G* units is that there's a little kingpin "slop" in that metric-sized bore, now. I know some SoCal racers that go fast enough that this matters, so they shim the kingpin to fix that.

The Landyachtz Grizzlies work real well, too, especially after the way-too-soft red Khiro's are swapped for something more appropriate for a wide hanger like that. The jury is still out for me on the asym-hanger, as we ride them in different situations and styles.

The Bennett carving/speed trucks will be out in May (my estimation, not theirs) and use a one-piece, through axle. In the 60-degree format, they're very turny but get stable quickly, due to the ultra-large Devo Hat bushings.

hmm, good point about the slop of the non-metric kingpin, i never htought of that, i thought it wa just baseplate slop.

Brass, copper or steel. Head into the machine shop downstairs and ask for some "shim stock" in .001-.003". Wrap or swedge, your choice. You know, you can also ask Dave Rogers if he's got some left: he's the one that pointed out the issue and the fix to me.

I got some beef with the grizzlies. Nothing major, but still.
The pivot cup is real tight on the hanger, but way loose in the baseplate and makes a lot of slop. Although its easily fixed (wrapped the pivot cup in tape, because other pivot cups I had were still problematic) it still bothered me.
And also, if you run double stims/jimz it makes the hanger move a teeny tiny bit out of the pivot and gets kinda sloppy.
Not really anything big, but its just those little things that get to ya.

But I expect too much from everything.
