    Default Trucks for Avenger

I've had crails on my avenger for a while, but i was looking at upgrading to something a bit better. I find the trucks get a little flighty once i get up to around 70km/h. I want something that can get up to around 90km/h before that unstable feel kicks in. I was looking at pimping my ride and getting something a bit more high end, like a smokey (i'm not fussed about cost), but im not sure of a few things.....

Will they feel unstable like the crails do because of the bearings in them, and also the fact that they're 40 degrees not 35?

Also, are they too low to run on an avenger with avila's and no risers?

And lastly, if they won't feel any better would i face similar problems with a radikal talon with the 35 degree plates (or should i just stick with something basic like a C7)?

I think that all makes sense...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go with radicals, there using a new bushing in the hanger and plate instead of the esphirical bearings, that alone quites dowm the trucks.

Call Keith, Radicals sales guy, He is a really nice guy and will help you out. Check the manufactures thread here look in the second page for Radical updates.

I have the radicals put them on my Avenger with a 1/8 soft spacer and 77mm vents no wheel bite.

Try r2 base front dh base back. 180 hangers all around. Also try some jimz bushings with that and you will love the avenger!

Crails will be more stable than radikals i can assure you that.

Wobbles come from the rider and not the trucks.

I don't agree with you on that one , just because they have spherical bearings dosen't mean they will make you unstable. Have you rode the Radicals?

A bearing will make the truck react to almost every movement you make. The radikal has two bearing in it. One in the hanger and one in the baseplate. If you so much as sneeze i bet you will wobble, considering you are wobbling on crails.

I have used jimzs as well. The fact that you are riding a topmount and precision trucks means that you will be riding a super responsive board. This feeling is not for everyone.

Although I said it is not the trucks it's the rider. Trucks do play a role if they are not dialed in correctly or if they are very precise.

If you feel you need a better truck to skate better, then by all means go for it. You can always sell the radikals on SF.

Im not sure how to fully explain this but

Im not actually getting deathwobbles, but you can just feel the trucks getting flighty. I don't mind this feeling but im worried that if i go much faster they will start to wobble. Also I dont have leathers yet so i don't really want to go down bigger hills and test their limits just yet. Do you think the crails would let me go up to 90 (i doubt ill get much faster than that) without too much of a problem?

The new Radicals are coming out with bushings instead of spherical bearings, there a lot quiter and not the same high precision as sphericals.

the kahalani's look sick, but i guess the only thing im skeptical about is the 45 degree angle, which is the same as the crails.

Ive taken my crails on an avenger to around 50 and they felt stable. Try using harder bushings and see if that helps.

would all these trucks, smokey's, kahalani's, radikals etc... run fine with no riser and avila's though?

    Man. Get leathers...

you can get plenty fast enough on crails to need them.

and you're as sure as hell going to want them before having a crack at 90k

C'mon man, you should know better.... If you've never skated the Radikal trucks, you can't really comment on how stable they will be.

It seems like 3/4 the people on this site with radikal speed trucks have no taken them over 30 mph on a hill with corners.

Plus, every bearing impregnated truck will feel like that. I do not need to try them.

I use my rads as a cruiser truck as they are the 45 degree plates. But I have heard of people taking them very fast.

They are noisey....it sounds like somethings broken at speed when you hit a rut.

I'm interested in the new mods.

I think the answer to the original question is changing the bushings. Those crazy Brazilian guys take Crails to 110kph!!!!!!!

the geometry is different, and the main problem with them is the bearing in the baseplate and the interface between the pivot and the bearing...
