This is what I'm planning on throwing on my new 35"x 8" Pintail i'm building. Nice and cheap is what i'm going for, tell me if i'm going down the wrong road. Board will just be used for cruising in the city.

    Randal R-II 180mm trucks
    ABEC-11 NoSkoolz 65mm wheels (88a)
    Mini-Logo bearings
Riot Gear Vibra soft risers 1/8"
    FATboards... soon to be.

are you planning on doing slides or ditches or anything like that? if not, for all purpose cruising i'd go with 70mm flashbacks in 78a or 81a. other than that looks perfect

Yeah maybe a little ditch and a little pool. But I read on here that using anything more than a 65mm wheel with randals can lead to wicked wheelbite.

I have 70mm wheels w/ my RII's and have had 75mm wheels w/ them also. Both were on pintails and I didnt get any wheel bite. Just used a very small riser pad. I think you'd be fine w/ 70mm wheels.

Ok heres the story of Zumiez. Zumiez is chain skate shop, for posers. Its owned by a big faceless corporation and carries brands like roxy and quicksilver. 3 of them moved into my town and ended up putting the coolest grass roots skate shop owned by the coolest people in existence out of business. I HATE them with a passion. I didnt want to drive very far tonight for grip tape so i went there and tried to get in and out as fast as possible, but they had a whole rack full of longboards, G&S and sector9. But it still makes me angry.

Not to thread jack, but Fort Worth had a skate shop too, started over 20 years ago... zumiez bought them out, and now they still have the same name but their junk is lame. All the groms go there to get decks/wheels/trucks and anything else they can find that says "BAM" "FLIP" or "VOLCROM" on it.

It is actually mostly clothes and shoes... if you want, say, angled risers? Bearing spacers? Forget it.

Theres nothing wrong with them, if its what you like then rock it, but I think that those brands materialize skateboarding and most of the people who wear it have never even stepped onto a skateboard.

true, but I always thought that these brands started off making boardshorts first to cater to surfers, well at least quiksilver, then billabong a couple years after. But i wouldn't care if I saw a hot chick in a roxy or billabong bathing suit who never surfed in her life. It's a hot chick in a bathing suit. 8)
