    Default Randal RII downhill bushings

I've got some RII 180's with the stock bushings and i started getting into downhill and want some better bushings. I weigh 145 and have a drop carve . what would be a good bushing setup?

Does it have the yellow soft bushings? I like those on my 150's, if you want a tight truck get some red randalls but the yellows are pretty stable and when tightened work great. Some khiro barrel's may be nice, they are supposed to be pretty good and you can get a kit that comes with the bushings and washers sized to fit them. E-mail Bob, he is very helpful. Tell him all your gear, weight, riding style, personal preferences and he will help you chose one of the 7 hardness's. He was very helpful via e-mail with me.

Honesty though those arent DH trucks, I have some buddies that use them but their hanger angle is not as low as most DH trucks. My crails are 45, I think randall DH's are 130-135, and so are force DH trucks. randalls are more in the 55-60 range.

I dont know for sure but you may be able to flip the hanger to make the truck more stable, I have heard about this with R2's but dont know the details.

Good luck getting into dh! If you can afford them I would highly recommend the Crail DH trucks, I love mine. I weigh about 155 and the stock bushings are great, soft and smooth but very stable when tightened. Also the Crails are right inbetween a standard turning truck and a serious DH truck, angle wise, so you get stability but dont throw all your manuverability away.

    The blind leading the blind.

Buy a bunch of different khiro barrel packs and see what feels best. It will be a step in the right direction anyway.

red randal bushings... boo. very little compression, even less rebound, and no return to center at all. just get some khiro yellows and start from there.

What exactly are you looking to improve? Turning? Stability?

They won't feel dead. If you want more stability, get some orange or black Indy replacement bushings. Might take 2 flat washers to "shim" the bottom one, but no biggie.

JimZ are so much better it's not funny. IMO
stock randal bushings are harder but conical. so they're quite mushy for how hard they are. they also have no rebound to speak of.

JimZ on the other hand are softer but shaped in a way that gives them, err artificial hardness for lack of a better term.
And they bounce back like any thing.

I can pump my evo now... at the same setting I use bombing.

alright dude...here's a hint...Jimz bushings are designed by...JIMZ. Having never ridden them I am still going to bank on the fact that they are better at just about everything compared to Randal stock bushings. They will probably center better, turn better, provide more stability, and rebound better. Although I have never ridden them so I guess you probably shouldn't take my word for it...but if I knew nothing else...I would pick Jimz bushings over anythign randall puts out.

I went into a coma, badly broke my pelvis, lacerated my liver and almost died on the mountain AND later in the hospital. The rehabilitation therapists had to teach me how to do everything again...everything.

I survived that mountain because of my helmet...WEAR ONE and send your family to the hospital, not the morgue.
