i comp-letely messed up my trucks doing this...
my randall 150's are now useless.
everything was fine until i was trying to hammer the axle back in and halfway through the threads of my axle were getting smashed closer to each other and now the axle is barely comping out of one end and the threads are messed up and i cant even hammer it back out to start over! The axle wont budge! If i even get the axle out it is completely destroyed!
go to the hardware store and get a die to re-cut the thread it's not difficult. Next time you hammer an axle into a hanger use a punch or use a sacrificial nut to protect the end of the axle

We have cut down Randalls at Sk8kings, They will be up on our web site soon! We also have stock 125 These work well Derad for back trucks with proper baseplates.
Get some like-threaded hex nuts and screw them onto the axle before any pounding with a hammer. This will protect the threads from getting compressed and ruining the axle. If any distortion of the threading happens from the hammering, screwing the nuts OFF will make sure the threads are back to their normal shape.
It doesn't always happen but it's bad news the one time it DOES happen and it's always better to err on the side of caution when dealing with irreplaceable metal parts.
