I would think Trackers would be more stable anyway. But what if one put a Tracker in back, and an Indy in front. Kind of like a RT-S/X combo, but for DH.

Something cool I noticed...

Indy 215 hangers fit RTX baseplates really nicely. It's less work than pounding out the pins on Indy plates if you want to run double barrels... Mmmmm... double barrels...

You guys can mix your indys and trackers if you like, but I just can't do that. I mean, once upon a time I didn't skate trackers because they felt weird, then they basically went on the attack against all that skateboarding meant to me, and... well, i know you younger guys didn't live through that era, but it ruined it for me.

I respect that Slim... A lot of the politics of skateboarding gets lost on me, I suppose I'm just in it for the ride, sort of literally and figuratively...

The axle placement on Indy's does lengthen the wheelbase, but this isn't necessarily a good thing. The reason why they can go so unstable at higher speeds is because the axle sits almost directly over the pivot... it's an inherently unstable design and there's no reason to try to run them at higher speeds when better trucks exist for that purpose. You can only (de)wedge a truck so far...

Randals are now super accessible, good quality, super tunable and affordable. Why not? Kahalani's are a bit more pricey but also sit at the same height as Indy's and offer just as much lean, if not more.

upsetter, props for taking your time for writing this up. I suggest people to try this out to see if you like it and if not, switch back to reverse kingpin trucks. I tried it when I first started longboarding and I personally hated it. Don't make this a new trend please. Love it or leave it.

In the end, it really just comes down to what feels good.
And obviously some people just prefer the feel of Indy's.

X2. Trackers don't turn. TWS has Sheckler on the cover this month.

As for the "why run Indys for downhill?" question; I just really like Indys and don't like change all that much.

super low decks arnt that great. I prefer a bit of hieght, gives more grunt on push starts, more torque for footbraking, and better leverage on the truck.
so indies give a longer axle base, but then you de wedge them so the axles are pushed back? seems a bit pointless to me...

Sofa's attitude (and it's not necessarily a bad thing) is why Indy's won't be the next "kraze" to hit downhill. I will keep my drop though on Randals (42* baseplates) and will run my top mount on Indy's. In truth it may be an old guy thing I am more comfortable on my top mount even though it's way turnier than my drop through the feel is more natural and it's something I've felt for more than 20 years. Granted I've barely been up into the mid 40's (and not likely to ever pass the mid 50's) so far on it but the comfort level is just much higher for me than on Randals (or any reverse kingpin truck). To the the young guns born and bread on reverse kingpin and precision trucks all of this just seems like a step backwards but for some it works.

The "Silverfish moves in trends" got me thinking. Maybe there could be a few Sticky areas for each truck company. Similar to the Slalomskateboarder site. That way people could give and get specific info about
their favorite brand. Just a thought.

oops ... I must have missed the kingpin / bushing stuff above.
