stock randal dh + 2 sphericals.....
step 1
make 3/8 inch pivot, drill out hangar to fit, press in
make bushing seat larger to accomadate jimz shapes
cut hole for spherical, press in
step 2
cut 7mm deep holes in baseplate pivot
press in sphericals
step 3
#### YEAH
im too tired to ride them right now.. but tommorow i will
yes, more precision, less slop, a different feel that some prefer.
karrot, where does one go about finding sphericals? i'd like to try this out, not that i don't wanna ship em off to ya, but its summer and i get bored easily so it'll give me a nice side project.

but seriously you should find a way to measure the new turning angle. by adding a spherical in the pivot it's changeable. you might have made something golden... i forgot you could do that to baseplates.

i know that mcmastercarr has them. search spherical bearings, and they should come up. you need ones with a 3.8 in ID.
and theyre still set at 35*, but it wouldnt be that difficult to switch up the angles a little bit. another thing that could be done, is to drill the new pivot slightly off center, so you create rake on the hangar, so you can flip it, or make it feel more like a r2 hangar...
my original idea was to put a 10mm bearing in the baseplate, but i do not have the right cutter for that.. so maybe another time
I don't think the pivot axis would still be 35º 37-ish I'd say, depending on bushing height, washers etc.
It's because the spherical is a lot fatter than the original bushing seat, and the truck will turn around the center of the bearing.
I think that the ball-joint is a better option than a 10mm.
You'd have to keep the axis 100% aligned with the bearing or you'd get real problems.

yeah, but the bearing is in the middle of the hangar, so wouldnt it still be pretty much the same?
time to ride them
You can also get them from most Industrial bearding houses like,Applied Industrial Technologies,Motion Industries,Kaman Bearings.Check your local phone book.
What would you be willing to sell those for if truck was supplied?
Is there enough material on Randal 180's with 42 degree plates to do that?
search the classified archives, its somewhere in there. he was selling it as a service.
thanks timorne, that would make some sense.

Since the new evo has the green graphic, does that mean the board will go faster? I heard they used a lighter paint, which makes the board lighter and faster?:-k
