Inverted Kingpin Trucks
To my knowledge, there are two mass manufacturers of inverted kingpin trucks, Randal and Gullwing. There's Crail, but they're located in Brazil. Anyhow, why haven't companies like Independent or Tracker started making inverted kingpin trucks? It makes sense to me... or is there not a large market for them to begin with?

How does inverting the kingpin change the performance of the trucks?

I like them the best cuz they confuse the hell out of shortboarders.
Carve a bit better too i guess.

it allows for drastic kingpin angles. this means more stableility because they can have 50 degree angles, or extremly stable lower than that.
and ya, they look bad ass and confuse the hell out of short boarders.

well, anything that doesn't look like a popsicle stick confuses the hell out of shortboarders. Especially skateboards that actually roll....
-
Now are we making fun of trick shortboarders, or just people that like shorter boards...that always confuzes me

I'm making fun of people that don't know what a longboard is, and think that popsicle sticks are the only thing out there.

I always thought Grind King style kingpins were inverted kingpins...
Oh well. Live and learn. Then get Luvs.
(Checks in the mail)
With that said-
I think it would be great if more companies made trucks with Randall style geometry. Increased competition usually leads to companies designing better products which is a plus for everyone. Maybe if Randall had more competition they'd see that it's rediculous to sell a product that the majority of people upgrade right out of the box.
That being said, it could also be argued that there are a lot of companies that make traditional styled trucks, and the design and quality of the products haven't really improved all that much. For example, the new Stage 9 Independents have those crappy proprietary kingpins and sketchy QC, yet while reading through the forums, it seems like a lot of people are still using them. Hell, when it came to ordering new trucks a few weeks ago, I almost bought a set, but I decided to go with Krux instead (Damn expensive Seismics!).
I guess it could really go either way if more companies produced different styled trucks.
The good times are killing me.

- REVERSE KINGPIN TRUCKS; like Randals (along with 1 Gullwing model, Crail Trucks, and a few custom ones.).
Why haven't other respectable companies like Tracker and Independant made such trucks?

OOOOOOOOOOOOH! I'm a moron. Nevermind my previous posts. I thought you meant inverted kingpins like the through hanger kingpin of randals.
I hereby move myself one rung back down the ladder.

funny because I un invert the kingpins in the randals. I hated my grind kings because of the inverted kingpin. The nut kept falling off and you had to take your truck off to put it back on.

You guys are talking about two different things, I think.
The original poster was refering to the ANGLE of the kingpin, I belive.
Not whether the nut goes on the top or the bottom.
The angle of the kingpin and it's orientation make an R2 act as if it's
on angled risers. Only turnier and more stabe at the same time.
That's why they are so great.
I have no idea why tracker and independent don't make a truck like that. They should. But if longboarding keeps growing they might start.
Even though they already make "longboard" trucks, they are just wider
versions of their regular trucks.
The good news is that Chris Chaput is supposedly going to be coming out
with the Liquid truck sometime in the next year. It's supossed to come with straight, precision axles, precison parts and quality bushings.
The Carve series competes against R2 and the Speed series compestes
against randal dh. I'm not holding my breath waiting for them though.

Well, since Silver set the record straight on which trucks we're talking about, I just have to chip in on this comment: Uh, No.
Shortboarding came first: our first boards were 12-18" long, bud! Longboards came later with pool/ramp boards, then the marble-wheeled "shortboards" you're thinking of came along in the 80's. Don't let it get you down. 8)
