Default bear 852s for dh

i was gona get some crails but i decided to get some bear 852s so i dont have the same setup as my friend and cuz they look pretty nice as well... Ive heard that 852s get bent axels.. is that still true with the new black ones?? also at stokedskateboards.com they have the option of getting a 40 degree baseplate.. that will make them nice and stable when u flip the hangers right?

Do not flip hangers on 40º plates, there will be major rubbing between the hanger and kingpin (this was on the old gen though).
I think you will like them though, they lean a lot and still have decent agility.
One thing to note however, if you plan on running jimz bushings they (the top one only) will have a tough time fitting when on the 40º plates (again on the old gen). Flipping the hanger will eliminate this problem but then you run into problem #1. So the best solution is to trim the top bushing a bit.

I have found that I like a 50º flipped to 40º. Leans nice, good solid straight line feel, and low enough for me. I just haven't been able to find a bushing that I really like in them. The rebound just doesn't seem to be there when used in this truck for some reason...

all of these angles r confusing me.. the bears have a flipping thing of 47 degrees and 57 degrees anyway right? then if i get them with a 40 degree baseplate they r even more stable... or something.

Its best to add an extra washer or two when you flip bears because the offset is different than randals and it actually changes the angle otherwise. Go with two or three washers on bottom, then bottom bushing, then flipped hanger, then top bushing etc.
