I just got a Custom LBL Otter (40in) and its beautiful. I have been out of skateboarding since I was kid but decided to take up longboarding because I miss surfing and snowboarding due to my current location of OK. I started out with a couple Flexdex boards which are really fun, but wanted something longer.
The Otter is great, but the trucks I got for it Randall 180s are way to high. I feel like I need a step ladder to pump. Checking out different trucks, its hard to tell how high up they will place you. The trucks I have on my Flexdex (Tracker RTX/S) are perfect for me but they don't make a longer truck which I want for the Otter which is 10in wide.
Any suggestions, I am looking at Bear Grizzlys but not sure about their height either.
Randalls are not all that high in comparison to most popular trucks. The only truck I can think of that is lower would be an indy 215, and my holeys are a tad bit lower also.
So am I looking at the same issue with Grizzly's? If I put my Flexdex w/ Trackers next to my LBL with randalls the LBL is almost an inch higher off the the ground.
I suppose I would get used to it, but it really feels strange after getting used to my last setup. I primarily just ride distance. I live on an Army post and go out and do like 3-4 miles so pumping comfortably is pretty important to me.
^ yeah I'm new, what can I say? After talking to some guys on this site and trying out some different trucks I think I figured out the answer I was looking for. Figured I would post it in case anyone else was looking for some good LDP trucks.
Flipping my bears/ randals def lowered them, but I still wanted something easier to push so I put my RTs/x trackers on which were perfect height. They actually worked pretty well on the otter despite being 149mm. So that led me to the Tracker Dart. A good size both in width 184 and height. Maybe not as carvy as say the randals or the bears but much better for long sessions, going for distance.
