Default Plan on gettin Exkates, is this the right choice?

Hey new here to the forum, but have been browsing it for a couple days, seems pretty cool. I plan on gettin some exkate 101's pretty soon and am wondering if they would be the right choice for me. I will be getttin these for the carve board i'm making right now. And what bushings should i get? I weigh around 150lbs.thanks.

Forgot to add earlier the board is 38 inches long.

for a first board get bushinged trucks, like standard or reverse hanger (randalls). then for a second board go nutes with crazyness, but always have a starter board that gives you perspectives on how to start riding, and give you a do everything board to start with. nothing wrong with exkates, i actually hear that they rock, but they wouldnt do so hot for a unexperienced person.

I guess i should have added in there that I've been longboarding for about 2 years. Riding whenever i get the chance to, and skateboarding....for about 3 years on and off.

Well then that changes everything. I would get them, and if you don't like them, you can always sell them...

ya, i hear they rock, go for 'em. it just, i hear they are a little squerly, so a beginner might not have had the ballance to keep it under him.

Are the 101s 101 mm, and the 201s 201 mm? I heard otherwise somewhere.

    101s are 180 and the 201s are 250, I think...

the 101's are 150mm, and the 201's are 180. I have two pairs, and love them to death. There are times where I'll take my Exkates over a nicely setup pair of Randals. First longboard I EVER rode had Exkate 101's, and I can give them credit for my love of longboarding. If I were going to do it again, I would go with the 201's, and a softer bushing. I have red ones on both sets, and kinda want something a little turnier. I weigh 190 lbs after I hit the icecream while watching Sleepless in Seatle. I think I read something about them changing the color coding of the bushings. When I bought mine, the reds were medium, and the blacks were soft. Either way, you'll love them.
Loose trucks may save lives, but they won’t save you any money on your car insurance.

Nickle was right to mention the "change in color codes" for bushings at Exkate: now, the RED is the Medium, and the BLACK is the firm. At Peek's weight, the NEW RED is the deal.

At my weight, the New Black is the deal, and I don't find the trucks squirrelly, at all, but I can attempt turns tighter than I can stay on the board for at much speed. Slow on the flat: a 6' circle or tighter.

I've got the 101's on my 44" pintail, with sideset wheels, and the width is spot-on, even for a guy that likes wide trucks.

i just got my pair of black bushing 101's in the mail this weekend and am going to throw them on the frogger which I entered in the board build off a few months ago. It should work out nice...i am gonna throw some Krypto Classic 78a's on them! First pair of exkates well see if the hype is real.
