Default Randall RII on Insect Dragonfly

im a dumb ass, i and i bought randall 160mm downhills.
i thought my insect would carve a bit better than my old cloud9 (indy 215s)

turns out theo nly thing i can do is go straight.

so now im looking at randall RII's and i dont know which size would be best for the board.

    what do you guys suggest?

sorry for the stupid questions, i did a search but im kinda split.

    im looking for...

a cruiser that can carve very quickly, tight turns, etc. Speed doesnt really matter to me.

R2's are good and pretty turny.

But if you want super turny get some Original Super Carve spring loaded
    trucks.

i have thought about getting originals for a while.

theyre a bit pricey. should i go with the 150's?

also. would the originals give me massive wheel bite? According to the website, 150s wont fit, ill have to go with 200's.

for the every insect board exept thebig bug i would go with the 150s. more turny, but still stable.

    I have a Dragonfly with the 150s.

    It rocks!

Nice and turny and stable when I hit something bigger.

I am curious about what it would feel like with 180s....

Hey here's a lightbulb...wouldn't it be cool if randal sold hangars and baseplates seperate? I think it would be.

irssports or whatever sells baseplates individually, but not hangers... which sucks 'cause I'd enjoy DH hangers with R-II plates... meh...

The truck width needs to be matched with the wheels. For instance, I'm using 135 mm Seismics with Flashbacks on my Dragonfly, and they're the perfect width.

If I had narrower wheels, or wheels that aren't as extremely sideset as the Flashbacks, I'd get wider trucks.

Did your Insect come with Seismic 155's and you didn't like them, or did you buy just the deck? The Seismics carve great. I've been replacing all my Randal 2's with Seismics--though I still have to get a hold of some of SFL's "cult green stims" before I get rid of the R2's completely.

You can also wedge the front truck. That will make the baseplate angle of the downhill baseplates closer to the angle that the RII baseplates have. Then you'll carve just fine. Probably the cheapest solution.

I just bought the deck, and put my old trucks on it.

The Seismics really do carve great. Mine are both 45 degrees, but I wedge the front one and dewedge the rear one. This really helps for pumping the flats, and doesn't seem to affect the hill carving.
