    Default Siesmic Combos

I ride siesmics 180mm with a quick turn in front and back, super turny, but not great for bombing. I know alot of people are big on the Quick up front and the stable in back.
I was just wondering what other people use.
    anyone tried 2 stable trucks?
Stable in front quick in back?
Ever used angled risers with siesmics?
Tried using a siesmic withanother truck (I was thinking a randal)?

Hmmm... well, I use the venerable 45/30 combo. If I was going to be doing some serious bombing, I'd go 30/30. If I was just going to carve all day I'd go 45/45. But since I bomb and carve, 45/30 is a Damned fine medium. 30/45? Never; a fishtailing skateboard is a funky Ass mofo ride.

As for wedged risers, I used one on my Cloud 9 rear truck to alleviate some wheel bite.

As for trying a seismic with another truck, Bahne markets a beginner's slalom complete with a 45 front and a Tracker RT-S rear. If my understanding of pumping is correct, that'd be some crazy pumpability. As for a randal with a seismic, I could do a 45 front with a dh plate in the back to dampen my rear steering a bit; definetly not a R-II plate though.

Seismics are no different with angled risers. you'll just be increasing/decreasing the geometries of the baseplate. For example, if you wanted your board to be more stable, you could de-wedge both of your truck, and maybe de-wedge the rear one more if at all possible.

Depending on the way you face them. If you put the flat end facing outwards, then you are going to get decreases steering because the higher the angle, the quicker the turning... so, if you put on angled riser that is 5 degrees in back, with the flat end facing out, then you will have a 40 degree back and a 45 degree front. I wouldn't wedge the front at all, considering that it is 45 already...

I am going to go check what the angle is on those risers, because I don't think that it is 5 degrees. BTW, Veg you still have my angled risers, or they were stolen by my family members...

That's a shot of Momona Boe's Slalom board. It has a wedge front truck and de-wedge rear. This is an extremely common slalom set up and increases the turning geometry up front and decreases it in the rear.

Yeah, if you put a turny truck in the rear and a stable in front all you're doing is asking to eat it hard.

Many people combo Seismics with Tracker RT-S/X & love it.. Some people use a Seismic in front and a wide truck in back to stable out bombing runs.. etc.

Sounds like it might work out good. Just get some nice bushings for it.

Randal R-II geometry is similar to Seismic quick.

Consider a quick Seismic front, and a Tracker, Indy, Destructo, or Krux rear.

Or, buy a different geometry baseplate.

I am so glad you informed me of this ahead of time, veg...

Randal is sending his replacements out asap, infact, I think he sent them out friday. If you are going to borrow one, you will have to use a 150 hanger...

Mile_High_Mark, in your opinion, what is the best duro for gumballs and flashbacks?

It depends on how rough the surfaces are, how experienced the skater is, what you want to do with the wheels/board, etc.

For cruising, anywhere from 75-81a. For sliding, harder.

    Every wheel is a compromise.

I have a set of the old composite Seismics, which are all 45 degrees. I have the front wedged to increase turn, and the rear dewedged to reduce turn, and it makes my 27.5" wheelbase board into a great flatland pumper without affecting it's hill-carving (which is my primary interest).

Having a non-turny rear truck means that you can really put some weight on your rear foot to maintain traction in hard turns.

    Wedging Seismics works just fine.
