    Default S9 Pivot Replacements

Well, aside from the obvious answer (R-II's), what would be a good replacement for my Pivots on my S9 Cloud 9? If you know a good truck that has at maximum a 170mm hanger, tell me about it! If you suggest an Indy, is there anyway to get rid of that idiot kingpin so I can use a longer one? Thanks!

Hey CRASS, I've been meaning to ask you.

Are trackers really much turnier then indy's or do you like them for their nostalgia appeal?

I like trackers alot to. They are very turny. other features are both old and new shcool drilling, and higher quality over indy. I bought indy 169, and they sucks, the axle were not equal, and had very little thread left with me bds wheels. Also the kingpin can't be removed and is to short even for replacement indy bushings (well some say its removable but I put them in a 6 ton hydralic press and they didn't come out). But trackers come out with a few hard hits, which is alot nicer.

I like Krux... then again, my experience with Trackers is limited to a rear RTS. How about Seismics? Have you thought about Seismics?

Oh yah, I've already had seismics on the cloud 9, freakin' awesome. After I brought my pivots back with me to OK after T-day, I fully understood the difference between seismic springs and bushings. They're like, "I'm in a full carve heel side but I feel like going this way, okay-done." Or during pedestrian slalom sessions, "Crap this way, no! Sh[/b]it, this way. Mother of god, that way!" I'm sure technically you could turn that into something like they're really responsive and take you where you want to go, but why bother with silly vernacular like that?

    *ahem*

So what Trackers would you guys reccomend then?

The stage 9 kingpins do come out. I've done six stage-9 kingpin swaps already. I don't have a fancy press, just a regular hammer and a can of PB Blaster spray to loosen things up. I only weigh 150lbs so I'm not super strong or anything. Then you can put whatever kingpin you want (i've used both grind king and tracker brand allen-head reverse kingpins - use jbweld or other metal epoxies around the nut to hold it in place in the bottom of the baseplate).

Trackers are much better build quality and the kingpins are easy to swap so maybe that's a smarter purchase. I'm just too stuck on indys for my own good. (anyone want some sixtracks? i have some i've barely used and have too many trucks!).

what's the hanger width on the sixtracks and how long would you be willing to hold them for?

As far as I know, sixtracks are the same width as indy 169, but I'll measure exactly tomorrow. They've been sitting on my work bench for a while already so a little longer isn't going to kill me. I had replaced the kingpins with the allen-head type but then borrowed those kingpins for another pair of trucks so I can either put back in the original kingpins for you or you can swap in the type of your choice. (right now they have the original kingpins, but upside down: which is suppose works fine too). I have several types of bushings you can choose from. Here's what they look like.

a few missing nuts in the picture but i have them here so no worries about that.

sooo... could you perhaps wait until the new year on them? I'm pretty sure those were the trucks I was looking to get to replace these pivots sometime in the February timeframe depending upon how the money is flowing... that's probably way too long though... your call, you won't break my heart

(btw, if I were to purchase them, I'd just want the hangers, baseplate, bushings, and the kingpin if it's 2.5" long.)

Yes, sixtracks are very nice. I have them on my old school deck. BTW thanks for the pb blaster suggestion I will try that and throw it back in the press.

    You can get Trackers in:
The Axis; Seepened the pivot angle, lowered the hanger. Available in: 129mm and 139mm.
Dart; Classic tracker angles. available in: 129mm, 139mm, 149mm, 161mm(new SixTrack), 184mm and the whopping 219mm.
    Tracker RT-S & RT-X; Quick-turn(X) and Stable(S). Available in: 85mm, 106mm, 129mm, 139mm and 149mm for the S, and 106mm, 129mm, and 139mm for the X.

You can buy "Classic" style remakes of the MidTracks or the 106mm FulTracks, for $30 per truck.. not a great buy. Just go get some 85mm Mids in the nice new style off of SolidSkate or somethin.

I hope that helps, I know EastCoastSkates sells a ton of oddly powder coated Axis & whatnot, but your best bet would be MileHighSkates.

Also check out Orion, but they're more for beefy street & pool skating & such I belive.

I started on Indy's. I always perfered the way Indy's turned over Trackers, Gullwings or the rest. They were always a bit heavy. Never had a problem with kingpin removal. But until recently (past few years) I had been skating the same three sets of Indy 169's that I got in the late 80's.
As of late the quailty control at Indy has been....lacking. Axle shift has been a problem too.
