    Default beginner down hill?

ive been sliding dancing and carving for years now and i figure its time i start a little dowhill. i have enough money to buy a set of trucks hardware and bushings up to 100 dollars and i need to know what the best solution for a cheap stable downhill truck would be.

I also have randal 180's that ive flipped but the bushing on them jut dont hold up well with high speeds,
    any advice?

Buy a set of 42º Randal baseplates and some Venom Dh bushings and you are good to go, if you have suitable deck...

I've also started doing some DH recently. I'm tinkering around with various set-ups, but currently I'm running randal dh baseplates (35*) with 180 hangers (w/ the stock yellow bushings) purple tangs in-heats, mounted on a landy chinook. I've taken it to about 50kph and it's been smooth and stable riding so far. What deck do you plan on riding for dh?

*edit: i've got a 42* baseplate on the back truck

    +2 to Blix.

42 Randals are an amazing setup.
Lower than the 50's, so it'll be a tad more stable .
    Have fun out there

Okay, Cranks, tell us why 42 Randals are not more stable than 50's - I thought the lower the angle, the more stable? BTW, you can get the 42 baseplates from stokedskateboards.com.

Cranks probably misunderstood Stop_and_Roll. It seemed like he was saying 42 degree plates were more stable because of the ride height.

yup lower the angle, lower the board, lower center of gravity, thus more stabilty

haha i never use the word thus

he DID say that they would be more stable because they were lower. the word 'so' implies causation, no?

of course they are more stable, they are 42s.

before you go changing your whole set-up, invest in either jimz or venoms. a better bushing will keep you stable at higher speeds.

however, i do agree that 42 plates are sex. i started dh on a 47inch flat pintail with 50 degree randalls. stock bushing. i was hitting about 30mph with it. it's do-able, start with the bushings though!!!!

learn to DH on your flipped randals and youll get a lot more out of any actual "DH" trucks. Get some different bushings maybe but learn to make yourself stable before you start worrying about getting all the expensive gear. I'm sure that sounds counter intuitive from what it usually sounds around hear but getting better takes actually getting better not buying more gear.

right now im riding a homemade board thats about 40" with a symmetrical nose and tail, its 7 ply so theres very little flex and its pretty stable, but im scrapping my money for some sort of dh deck any advice? by the way, i do know how to keep stable, ive been riding down medium sized hills for years but its time i got something more capable of speed.

depending on how much lean you like. If you really like lean then 42* randals will be good. alot of people I ride with like a 50* randal up front because that eliminates alot of the lean. 35* back and 50* front should be good.
