What trucks

my sister made made me a new deck for christmas but i need some help figuring out what size and brand of trucks i should put on it. The deck is 36x8. thanks for your help!

Off the top of my head with the information you've given, I would suggest Independent 169's. Pop in some Bones Hardcore bushings and you've got yourself a sick setup.

169s will likely be too wide.

169s are 162mm and design for 8.75" plus....

149s for 8.5" plus

139s for 8 " plus

129 for 7.5-7.75"...

BUT bear in mind your wheel choice...if its a longboard your wheels will vary from generic new school street board wheels, so come in all manner or sizes and widths and bearing offsets. Most people like their wheels and truck combo on a longboard to either match the width of the deck or poke out a bit. A good store will offer up your wheel choice to a variety of truck widths to get the width you want.
