You could have just edited the other thread.....
Anyways, could you explain what exactly you did?

I would more than gladly pay you to put a spherical bearing in my baseplate and my hanger.

for the rII, the base plate was bored to 13/16" to accept the 3/8" spherical bearing. Because the rII hanger doesn't have the material that the randal dh hanger have, i reduced the existing pivot point to 3/8" instead of placing a separate rod within the hanger. as of right now i haven't tried to place a spherical within the hanger but if there is enough people interested i would love to experiment with it.

as for the bennetts, it was more of a retrofit necessity. the truks originally came with plastic baseplates so i used a standard baseplate instead. The standard baseplate's pivot cup was way too large so after a failed rubber stopper pivot cup, a buddy suggested trying to use the spherical.

both trucks turn incredibly, however, the modded bennetts would probably be better suited with a 85mm midtrack in the back for slalom use.

You can put sphericals in pretty much anything if you're creative enough....

Personally, with "reverse kingpin" trucks, I think a spherical in the hanger makes a lot more difference than a spherical in the baseplate. With regular trucks like the bennett, it's a whole different story...

Why does a spherical in the hanger of a reverse-kingpin truck make a bigger difference than a spherical in the baseplate of a reverse-kingpin truck? - The spherical in the hanger removes the "slop" around the kingpin associated with bushings, making the truck more"precise." With the way the pivot on a reverse-kingpin truck basically just rotates inside the pivot-bushing, adding a shperical to the baseplate does not make a huge difference in the precision of the pivot, though it does make a difference.

Regular-style trucks are a different beast. Since the pivot on this type of truck doesn't simply rotate, but moves in a more of a "composite" plane, adding a spherical to the pivot / baseplate makes a bigger difference than it does with a reverse-kingpin truck. (Someone smarter than me feel free to explain this better.) I've read some threads here on SF where it has been stated that regular-style trucks will not work well with a spherical in the hanger, but in my experience, the one I have works great - but it DOES have a spherical in both the baseplate and the hanger. (The G.O.G. Homer is kind of the same principle, and no-one complains that those don't work.) I've also seen examples of people adding a spherical to the hanger only on regular-style trucks, without any major pivot modifications, and their experience was also good.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you're going to add a shperical bearing to the baseplate of a truck, you get more bang-for-your-buck with a spherical in the baseplate of a regular-style truck, than you do with a spherical in the hanger of a reverse-kingpin truck.

This is all of course my own opinion. YMMV

for the baseplate spherical and hanger match it will probably be 25-30 dollars. as soon as we get the site up we'll start offering complete decks with modified trucks as well.

as for the spherical in the hanger for reverse kingpin trucks, i think they would be better suited in slalom or a commuter boards that is used where there is heavy foot traffic because all turning torque would be transfered directly to rotation instead of lateral movement.

for downhill use, i'm working on plates that can be fitted to rii hangers that will offer a high level of support around the bushing cup. with the mixed reviews of the smokey's and high reviews of maguns and such, it seems that bushing support will be more beneficial than an additional spherical bearing.

the best way to explain the bennetts is that the increased lateral movement makes them feel very similar to the carver trucks. i can actually generate speed by pulling the front of the board back and forth instead of driving it while in a carve

how would some modded 4.3s feel on an old school board? If these feel anything like my ACS trucks on my '67 brewer, I'm very interested.

maybe even a modded skennet from sk8kings just to get that extra narrow truck feel. hmmmm

the modified bennetts i'm riding now are on a flat piece of birch that is about 26" long. the board is very tippy and is great for doing berts and is fun if you generally ride with a slalom style. my only complaints is that the board begins to slide out alot even when pumping at moderate speeds because both trucks have the sphericals.

if the acs are anything like old makaha trucks, the modified bennetts feel very similar and you would have a blast

if anyone is interested i would take trucks in trade for services just so i can experiment with different brands ie. bennetts, paris, rtx, indy

I have some older gen 50* RIIs.

if you'd like to trade those for some modded 4.3s, I'd love to.

I also have some bennet 6.0s, but I may want to hang on to them. how do you think 6.0s with shpericals would feel?
