Spoke to Scott on the phone before I owned them and he warned me that you can end up running over your own feet with the S10 trucks.
What did I do the first time I tried to ride my S10s?
Ran over my foot on the first push.
As usual with the Originals, the kingpin comes loose really fast. I rode it a few hundred feet before the rear truck was loose as heck and rattling. Annoying. I dig them now though! Threw a 5/16" Grade 8 locknut in there (cost me $0.11 and about 60 seconds of time), and now I've put miles and miles on them with everything staying nice an snug. No rattling at all. Totally smooth. VERY stable and fluid. Shocking how much more stable they are than the S6 trucks.
If you drill new holes for the front, you can run S10 trucks with 70mm wheels on a Surf One Classic deck! Woohoo!
Re: Original S10 Trucks are wider than elephant butt!
yea S10s seem extremely wide. my neighbor has an apex 37 with i assume S8s and they are really fun, in the future im probably going to get a set probably S8s. they dont seem go for an all around board but they serve they're carving purpose extremely well, and since they turn so sharp probably good for some sliding as well.

Yep. It has happened to both my S6 trucks and my S10 trucks after only a few thousand feet of riding. But it only happens to the rear truck, not the front. It's just the kingpin bolt working itself loose and causing the entire hangar to start rattling.
Once I put in a lockwasher or a starwasher, the problem is solved. So, it doesn't bother me too much. Like I said, it's an investment of about a dime and a minute of time. Not a big deal.

re: lockwasher, star washer..
I have to report that the starwasher trick isn't as foolproof as I thought. One of my S8 trucks is starting to self-loosen again. The S6 trucks on my other board are adjusted tighter, and those are still staying put. On the board that's getting the loosening, I keep them just barely tight enough that the hangar doesn't move when you shake the board. I think the problem is that there's not enough pressure on the washer to dig the teeth in properly when the trucks are adjusted that loose.

Hmmmm. Interesting. Good to know.
My setup isn't exactly the same as yours.
I have a S6 and a S10. The S6 has an e-clip groove in the kingpin. The S10 does not.
Because my 5/16" Grade 8 lockwasher is about double the thickness of my 5/16" Zinc starwasher, I was unable to use the lockwasher on the S6 trucks and still use an e-clip.
So...
The S6 trucks use the starwasher AND an e-clip. That thing isn't going anywhere.
The S10 trucks only use the 5/16" lockwasher. They haven't come loose yet.
You say the starwasher doesn't seem to be applying enough pressure? That makes sense. Remember, if you encounter the same problem with a split-ring lockwasher, you may be able to fix it - you can always take a pair of pliers and split the ring a little farther apart and increase the pressure a little. Obviously not an option with the starwashers.
If you have the e-clip groove, you could add a clip on there too.
Re: Original S10 Trucks are wider than elephant butt!
i am interested in the s10 trucks but i have not found any info on pumping. I own a pair of seismics but i am not a fan because they are hard to pump due to the springs, you need the recoil of a bushing. i am just wondering if i will run into the same problem with the s10's. let me know if anyone has any info. Thanks

To me, Seismics and Originals seem to be about equal in ease-of-pumping.
Plus, I also think they pump better/easier than bushing-based trucks. Since we have opposite opinions, it's hard to say if you'll like the Originals for pumping or not.
Re: Original S10 Trucks are wider than elephant butt!
does this only happen to the S10 and S6? I just got my S8 but havn't had a change to ride it yet since it's been raining hard...so I dont know if I'll encounter the same problem...

All Original trucks are the same other than hangar width, so yes, they'll have the same issues.. and the same fixes.

I don't know what this has to do with elephant butt, but yes, take it apart, clean it, and re-lube it with some thick, goopy grease- white lithium grease is what most of us end up with.

Welcome to the club.. of enjoying the pains of dealing with Original trucks.. do what Barf said. He is the man
The white part is called the cam. if the cam housing (metal) is rough.. I'd suggest taking some sand paper and sanding the inside down. usually with about a 220 grit. Sometimes I have huge marks and have to start with a 100 grit.. go to a 220 grit.. and I personally polish it off with a 320 grit (overkill but makes it shinny and smooth).. I like to buff it to sweet perfection
Re: Original S10 Trucks are wider than elephant butt!
I worry that if you keep sanding the walls of the housing all the time, it's gonna get too big and your cams are gonna wobble all over in there. A big gap between the cams and the wall of the housing will also make it easier for dirt to find it's way in.

It is a definitely a concern I share. If you saw some of the gashes I make on the inside though I am left with little choice. I get to the point where I have to lubricate it every ride. I try not to sand it any more than I have to.. on a couple occasions I've had to go down to 100 grit to get out so really nasty scratches.
