awesome mod, deffinately curious what the spherical in the hanger feels like

Re: indy mod
I do understand the point of the pivot bearing, but the hanger bearing seems to restrict the turning capacities, no ? I mean they are logical in reversed RII type trucks but not in traditionnal trucks ...
BTW, have you tried bushings with Avilas ? I've got one here, and was wondering what was the better bushing shape I could do with it ...
I would love to get a big sir and a lil fin in a certain color to match my dad's dune buggy

the hangar bearing would restrict the turn if there was no bearing in the pivot. but with 2 bearings, there is no loss of turning capability.
Avila bushings are pretty sick, i made some stims and jimz for a dude a while back
btw- sickest topmount trucks ever

Re: indy mod
WOW!!! That's not going to turn like a stock Indy at all. With the stock trucks the whole hanger sort flops over but with your setup it will actually be forced to pivot around the axis of the pivot pin.
It would really be interesting to ride those and see how they feel. They theoretically should be more responsive than stock Indies because the actual pivot angle would be steeper.

Re: indy mod
if i ever make big bank, im gonna have to buy every mod youve done on trucks/bushings.

yeah its really interesting
it doesnt just slop all over the place like a regular indy.. which is really nice. it feels like a jimz/bennett/talon
if that makes any sense lol

Re: indy mod
I love the feel of indys, but cannot afford to get a set for all my boards. Clean job, karrot, like always.
ps. I didnt get my bushings today. Its time to be worried.

Not sure about that ... sorry ... from your pic you can see that the turn is restricted in amplitude by the bearing thickness. BUT it is surely more a precise turning like this as the bushing can't slop, and there is no point also to have an over deep turning.
I made a pivot ball on a street truck once, can assure you that the hanger could get more angle than your Indy. It is a question of geometry of the truck : the hanger needs to move back and front to get max turning.

That being said, stock 215mm Indy (with Core BP) are on of my favourite top mount trucks with Abec11 Jimz bottom bushing and Conical yellow randal top. My 42"Oak Vanguard flex 2 turns better than my firend 38" deck, and I almost get wheel bite with Avilas on !!!

Re: indy mod
How did you get the bearing properly seated in the hanger? I understand you bored out the hole, but does the bearing sit on anything/detailed pic of that?
I've got some spare sphericals sitting around and I'd like to try this!

compared to a stock 215, it actually turns farther. on a stock indy, the pivot limits the amount the truck can turn.
thats a pretty cool looking street truck
zach- use an epoxy like jb weld
