Re: Sabre Trucks
I believe they are lower than 50deg randals... Yeah, a lot of people whine about wheel bite, Ive been riding these top mounted and dropped through for speed and general freeriding, and dont have problems. You just have to set them up right, though some decks will be more prone to wheelbite since they move the wheelbase in.
I like these trucks...

I used to run Road Rages on Hybrid 66s and my KP rarely bit. The only times I can remember I was rolling up a curb at an angle.

Re: Sabre Trucks
sabres have a nice lean to them and are very cleanly casted.
i'd rather downhill on randals
i'd rather freeride on indies
i'd rather pump on paris

Re: Sabre Trucks
I like my Sabres. Been ridin' em for a couple months now.
Very clean castings. Hangers did not need to be faced. Nicest looking cast truck yet.
Best stock bushings I've ever ridden (purple barrels)
Very smooth and predictable lean characteristics. They lean a little more than Randals but not too much. Great carving truck. I haven't taken them past 25 or so (gettin' old!) but they have felt rock-stable so far.
Axles were almost straight. Straighter than any other cast truck I've owned.
I've ridden them dropped on 2 different home made decks. The baseplate is very drop-through friendly and hanger clearance is good.
Good riding trucks right out of the box w/ no mods...

Re: Sabre Trucks
I just got a set of sabre trucks and at first I didn't like em. But like everything, after a little tweaking here and there, I founf a setup which possibly beats my old setup.
Board: drop thu nemesis
+7 degrees wedge front
-7 degree wedge rear
Making it a 14 degree difference between from and rear. Forgiving centerline feel, deaden's the back just enough to feel stable at DH speed but overall has plenty of turn for sidewalk commuting when you really lay in to it.
I'm all about one board for all situations so it's not the best setup for any one thing, just a setup for whatever the road brings me. Good at all but a master of none.
Initial issues I encountered was major wheel bite, after correcting that, then I got major railbite. all good now. Oh and I'm running purples all the way around, dual cup washer rear, 1 cup, 1 flat in front, tighten them until both sides take equal pressure to lean board. I'm 170 btw.
Working on my next mountain dew commercial with this hill.

Re: Sabre Trucks
So would anyone recommend these as a DH/Freeride truck? I've been riding randals forever now and im lookin to try another cast truck and the 190mm hanger seems great for DH. They also look really clean and well made. Any comments about stability and slide-ability would be awesome.

Yes ive taken them to near 45 my top speed done drifts both ways standys carved commuted ye there great get em and the drift nice too i dont know why people said sabres were hella bent mine arnt bent very much yet and the stock bushings i cant even explain how much i like purple sabres but it also does depend on the board your riding on
does any other topmount riders feel hella tall on these even with 70mm wheels?

Re: Sabre Trucks
I just got my Sabre trucks in today. I really should've read this before I got them. Although it's super obvious, I had no clue it would decrease the wheelbase. Threw them on the short wheelbase of my Isis and immediately ate it. Sweet. Put it on the longer wheelbase, and with the flat washer on top and the trucks pretty loose, still bit. I think I'm going to grind some wheel wells now. I really like the trucks otherwise though.

I just got some sabres and been ridin them on a chopped bombhills for me they don't feel too tall and I ride them with 4prez and cults. I put the sabres axels side by side with crails which I've been riding for a while, and they're the same height, and I dont really consider crails to be high trucks on a topmount.
These really are some awesome trucks, one of the things I like about them is the fact that the trucks tighten up the wheelbase a bit so you can ride a bit of a longer topmount and have more platform to stand with the wheelbase not as long (helps when you cant adjust the wheelbase on your board). Also the purple bushings are amazing, very lively indeed.
I've been wanting to try an eliminator with washer boardside on the sabre's will this work?

Re: Sabre Trucks
I was wondering if sabres would fit well on Rayne Hellcat or is anyone running them on a drop thru board?

Yeah ive got sabres on a hellcat ('09 model - with the red graphic) with the stock, purple bushings. They fit fine and im yet to get any wheel bite with them (with 75mm avila wheels). Although admittedly i havent taken them to any serious speeds yet.

Re: Sabre Trucks
Hey I am thinking about getting some sabres with spherical bearings in the hanger from octane sports and they come with venom elims but from what I hear these trucks have really tight bushing seats so will elims fit.

elims DO NOT fit these trucks well what so ever... even if you do run one on the bottom you'll have to shim the hell out of it to get things to line up

Re: Sabre Trucks
they're not as tall as 50 degree randals... I have them on a voodoo doll with 1/8th of riser and fat frees... I think its pretty low for what it is.

Re: Sabre Trucks
The sabre bushings need to break in a while before they get "stable"
I find once they are broken in they are sitll too twitchy in corners. So I run 88a sabre bottom 85a venom/divine barrel top. Feels fantastic for 30mph+
I think its pretty rad how you can control the lean of these trucks/change them drastically by swapping the top barrel for a top conical etc...

that's interesting. i was in love with how my sabres cornered, but i felt so uncomfortable on them at speed. i really have no idea why i had such issues on sabres at speed, they felt really twitchy, even after i switched to a 90/85 venom setup.
i'm not blaming the trucks, many people have taken these to speed and felt extremely comfortable. it must have been rider error. i just dont understand how i can feel so comfortable on randals at 45mph yet so uncomfortable on the sabres.

The Edge... There is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.
The others- the living- are those who pushed their luck as far as they felt they could handle it, and then pulled back, or slowed down..bowed down. But the edge is still out there.
