bigger wheels
what advantages do bigger wheels have over smaller wheels?

Re: bigger wheels
main speed longer, smoother ride, higher ride height, ability to ride over debris (rocks, twigs fatass cracks)

Re: bigger wheels
They are Bigger!!!
Urethane depth/urethane formula will determine the plushness of the ride.
Wheels with smaller/no cores can have a very smooth ride.
Larger diameter wheels will roll over debris (small furry foreign matter) a bit more easily

Re: bigger wheels
they make yoiur penis not only look bigger but feel bigger and they will dramatically improve your chances of scoreing with the ladies

Re: bigger wheels
due to the bigger cicumfernce bigger wheels can roll faster/farther per push. in one rotation a 50mm wheel goes 50mm but a 100mm wheel would go 100mm so per rotation bigger means faster

Exactly. But watch out. The moment you step off that board you'll have some shrinkage.

i believe you're correct to the extent that a larger wheel will obviously go farther per rotation, but not necessarily faster, as it will take a longer period of time to accelerate to the same speed or rpm. at the same rpm though, a larger wheel should be moving farther (hence, faster), the main difference of course being acceleration to said speed. hmmm... i think i said the exact same thing in those last two sentences.
oh well, redundancy ftw.
EDIT: also, looking at my post, the bold was supposed to place emphasis on what I was questioning, but as I look at it now, it makes it appear as if... well, something other than what i would be questioning. Gawd. I'm all sorts of fail tonight.

Before this thread goes to far off track, bigger wheels roll over imperfections in the pavement with less feedback to the rider. When comparing wheels of the same durometer (hardness), a larger diameter wheel will roll over cracks, bumps and pebbles easier than the smaller diameter wheel.

maybe i if i was finding the circumfrence from the diameter but in the real world we just use a tape measure and not the stuff from math class

The smaller wheel is spinning twice as fast as the larger wheel at the same ground speed.
This should add to the confusion!

Re: bigger wheels
not really it actually suppports what i said alought the increase in rpms might be bad how fat would we be going

Re: bigger wheels
lol, agreed with getting off track^^^
bigger wheels will typically roll longer, give a nicer ride over whatever variety of crap is in your way, and maintain speed better (once you're up to speed)
they will of course, make your board higher off the ground, and require you to put more energy into each push. get a happy medium i'd say, giant wheels make pushing a bit tiring and harder to slide/more prone to slide out.

Re: bigger wheels
while on the subject of wheels spinning fast this would suck if it ever happened. greased bearings catching on fire from the friction. would make a cool video though. some dude roll'n down a hill and his wheels start to drip fire onto the road. mabey thats were spitfire wheels got their inspiration

where are those freakin' physicists when we need them?

Happened to a guy doing a speed run on in-line skates going down Cuesta Grade in the southbound lanes of 101 just north of San Luis Obispo, CA

Uhm, no. In the real world half the college-aged longboard dudes are in engineering school. Three quarters of the rest of them are pretty smart and know how to calculate a circumference from a diameter.
